Joe Calzaghe has hit back at Bernard Hopkins' claim that he won their light-heavyweight fight.
Calzaghe, whose win against the American will be shown on BBC TWO on Sunday from 1200-1300 BST, claimed a split-points win that Hopkins disputes. "He should get over it," said the Welshman. "He should watch the tape and accept that he lost.
"There were three American judges and he still lost. I don't need to find 100 excuses as I won. He's a sore loser."
Calzaghe was knocked down in the first round before picking himself up and extending his unbeaten record to 45 fights.
One judge scored the bout 114-113 to Hopkins, but the two other two gave it to Calzaghe by 115-112 and 116-111.
Calzaghe shows nothing but class to people hes going to fight....
He doesnt disrespect them or anything ok he has a laugh now and then but more or less he jus gets on with his buisness....
Hopkins needs to take note, maybe he wud get more respect....
Marvin Hagler's been crying about the Sugar Ray Leonard fight for 20 years! I know one thing. Joe Calzaghe won't be able to last 12 rounds with the #200 ranked light heavyweight when he's 43 years old. Good luck living down that knockdown followed by shit performance Calzaghe!
The fact that he got knocked down in the 1st, and then managed to win by not even fighting his best is actually testament to Calzaghes talent in my opinion.
Doesn't make sense to me though mate. He's broadly achieved the recognition he's the best SMW, and has done it to death for 11 years. He's got nothing left to proove there imo, I don't even think Pavliks worth it.
He's just got a good win against a big name at a different weight, is the top LHW. He has 3+ at the top calling him out or willing to fight him, which would be big fights, and gain him much more recognition and money. He even indicate RJJ is by far most likely choice. Seems absolute madness not to take advantage. He's got everything to lose at SMW, and everything to gain at LHW.
I thought hints at more than 1 more fight would be short lived due to the hype. Settling down now I reckon he'll probs have one. On the one hand he wants to protect his legacy, but on the other he seems willing to risk that and his titles back down at 168. Staying a LHW seems logically better to me, he's getting called out by big fighters, has less to lose, more to gain.
He's conveniently saying he can make the weight fine, but pre Hopkins he was saying 175 is more comfortable, and he's struggled to make SM for years now. That's clearly the truth of it so I'm confused why after being so keen on a RJJ fight he'd say this now.
I think he wants to defend his titles at SMW, it would be a shame if he retired as the best SMW ever but still had the same title defences as Ottke.

Yeah Hopkins demonstrated a distinct lack of class throughout the pre and post fight interviews. He's been beaten 5 times and needs to start dealing with it.
What ever happened if you think Bernard won or lost
he is a bad loser..
Thats bad sportmanship right there...
No matter even if you were robbed off the win! and everyone believed you won for you to start making excuses and cryin like a little girl
is a sore loser...
He didnt even cry that much when Taylor beat him twice
but i think its down to how much he ran his mouth off and the things he said
his embarressed by it and his downplaying it...
