London's world cruiserweight champion David Haye has held talks with world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko over a possible title fight this year.
The pair went for a meal on Thursday night to talk about a potential bout.
The Ukrainian told BBC London 94.9: "He is looking forward to switching to heavyweight, but it's not an easy step.
"There are exceptions like Holyfield, who was a very successful heavyweight, so we'll see what David Haye is going to do."
Haye holds the WBC, WBA and WBO cruiserweight belts after beating Enzo Maccarinelli at the O2 Arena last month.
But he plans to vacate his belts in the next few months as he prepares to step up to the heavyweight division, in which he has fought only once before.
Klitschko, the IBF and WBO heavyweight champion, wants the fight to be in London.
He added: "I'm looking forward to fighting in London again, because London, like Great Britain in general, has such a great boxing community, it's amazing."

I think haye needs atleast needs 2 or 3 feeler fights at heavy before jumping in against vladimir. Certain questions may arise like is his chin capable of withstanding some of the heavyweight bombs and can he carry his power up to heavy?
Any thoughts?
i gotta admire Haye's eagerness to jump in with Klitschko. i mean not every heavyweight out there, let alone a cruiserweight, is anxious enough to share the ring with 6'6 240 pound monster. david may be whistling in the dark but he definetly wants this fight made.
but he definetly needs tune up fights. if it was ibragimov who was ruiling the nest then the transition would have been simple for haye, klitschko demands preparation
Wlad(and his camp) thinks like us. I mean it IS a pretty good fight from a marketing standpoint.
Exactly.
He's lacking in apparently creditable opponents. If he lets Haye run through the European contenders he'll lose eventually to a Virchis or Chagaev. Wlad needs to beat them to it.
More importantly this opens the British market to Wlad. Wlad knows his fights haven't been aired in the UK, and the only way he can fix that is by beating Haye.
You think Wlad will have to make sure HBO get involved with Haye first? If that's the plan, any lead-up fights from Haye will be against old Americans: Rahman, Toney, Holyfield, etc
Long layoff being best part of 3 and a half years. Thats an exceedingly long time to go without being in the ring for a boxer. Im sure the Dr has remaineed in good shape tho so i cant see his durability being too much of a factor. Cant see him getting KO'd either. He took some serious bombs in the lewis fight...SERIOUS i tell you! and walked straight through the fuckers :boxing:
Although his face told a different story
He does have a very good chin, but ring rust can be a factor and he isn't getting any younger.
All indications are that he will come back and fight for the title against Peter. I think Vitali can win the fight as well but the long layoff will most definitely not help him.

isnt he gonna be running for mayor or something at the same time??
i cant see him fighting again to be honest.
I have no idea how he's going to manage it. During the HBO broadcast of Maskaev-Peter, Manny Steward said that Wladimir said he would support Vitali in his decision to come back but he's not very happy about it because he wants to be known as the one true champion of the division.
Is Vitali Klitchko Vs Peter a done deal? Big mistake on the part of Sam Peter to even consider this fight. Vitali can take a punch, and is a predator of the highest order. Unlike his brother, Vitali is great at finding holes to counter through, and is far less conservative with his aggression. Peter will probably be brutalized within 6 or 7 rounds.

I think a fight card with both of them on it at the end of the year would be nice.
Wladimir Klitschko vs Alexander Povetkin
Vitali Klitschko vs Samuel Peter
David Haye vs ???? (Maybe Rahman or Golota)

other champs. try and become the undisputed champ.
i think haye tho will have trouble with shorter fighters. i think he can take Klit out with a couple of solid shots as he a big ****er.
I don't know mate, I think he'll do better business building it up like a climax. Sells more tickets, better business, better for the HW division overall.
If he went and beat Vlad now, I'd be like...OK that's it, the next fights won't pull as much interest.
I dunno.

Haye already has a loss and has no fear!
so why not take a crack at Klit then if he loses he can rebuild in the heavy division. BUT if he wins.. he is instantly the man and a star!
Good point! but where does he go from there?

His speed and athleticism will certainly count for sometihng, especially considering most heavyweights look like their reminents from a fat camp explosion or yetti's like that slow mother****er the beast from the east haha
second that, Klitschko and Ibragimov. Klitschko looked like he was fighting some random punter from the local Brick Layers Arms pub in Cheedle.
