I have to say that it was his lack of workrate. Im sitting there with a few of my boys watching the fight, and we were all saying that if Hopkins would just let his fucking hands go, he will hurt, and possibly KO Joe. It was quite evident that he was the much stronger man, and when he hit Joe, he hurt him. Hopkins never appeared to be hurt by ANYTHING that Joe hit him with, therefore i dont know why he was so hesitant to let his hands go. It was quite frustrating to watch.
With that said, Joe beat him on workrate alone. Its not as if he outboxed or hurt Hopkins. He won because he was the busier boxer.
Joe missed so what are you on about geez ,,, I hope people dont start with look at this 3 second out of context bullshit , any fighter can look shitfull in out of context clips , have a look at anything before the edits that hollywood buff .
wtf u on about?
Im on about how hopkins looks shit scared throwing please dont hit me combos lol his throwing them with his eyes closed hehehe
u tell me legend fighter? lol
The fact that the man is old, coupled with the facts that people hate his fighting style and his so called "racist" statements. If this were a fan favorite, everybody would be talking about how he got robbed. The HBO broadcast was rediculous. Along with the bloated compubox numbers, Hopkins lost the fight before they got in the ring. I find it hard to give a fight to someone that throws and doesn't land. Calzaghe threw more but landed about 4 clean punches the whole night. Most of you hate Hopkins, that much is evident.
I don't hate him even slightly. I greatly admire and respect Hops for his accomplishments. He's just old and the reflexes aren't the same.
That said even Joe acknowledges Hopkins was his toughest fight. Joe won by a split. Not bad for a 43-year old fighter. But honestly Hops best days are behind him and it showed.
he's 43 and he faded. simple as that
we all saw hopkins round 1-4, the fight looked exactly like the kind of fight he wanted it to be against joe. as rounds go on joe landed a lot more leather.
the fight def needed to be a split decision- but the last score card that had joe up by like 3 or 4 rounds was flawed to me.
that fight was joes- i think thats fair to say. but if it had been a split for hopkins i would be saying the same thing in his defense.
ugly-ugly-ugly and CLOSE fight. wish it could have happened 4 or 5 years ago.
Yep the old master would have won with just a bit more in the tank, it has to be age, He was far more lively against Tarver and Wright. He still has great power, accuracy, defense and ring smarts...........hes not shot at all, he just cant fight at a fast pace for twelve rounds anymore.
Exactly! Bhop was fighting as if he had the fight in the bag. It's just frustrating to see a master like Bhop get beat because the other fighter was a busier slapper. If Joe landed 3 signifigant punches in the entire fight, that was alot!
Probably wasn't helped by his corner telling him he had the fight in the bag. His corner were useless. They are supposed to motivate a fighter like Enzo did with Joe, not make him comfortable and happy.
Like i've said in other threads, in this fight, the loser looked better than the winner. Joe outworked Bhop, but in no way did he outbox him, or hurt him. Bhop was clearly the better boxer, and landed the better, harder punches. He just didnt let his hands go enough in order to get the nod.
how is he the better boxer if he fights that one counterpunching style.how did the loser look better than the winner?hopkins never hurt joe and joe landed some good straight lefts in the fight but you people act like joe never landed a clean punch in the fight
Mainly father time, the Hopkins of four or five years ago would've have a ridiculously easy time as evidenced by the first six rounds when he made Calzaghe look like a chump.
your opinion only calzaghe was poor in the start of the fight in my opinion

the reason hopkins lost is beacuse he was fighting joe calzaghe.some of you people act like this is some new shit hopkins always fights that way, he is very defensive and barely punches, he could never beat calzaghe
You can say his age all you like, fact is this was the best Hopkins has been in the last 5 years, and he still got beat. Take Bernards cock out of your mouth, swallow that spunk and listen up:
Joe Calzaghe was the better fighter, who landed more clean shots. He outworked Hopkins, and badly. You can talk all you like about "In his prime Hopkins would KO this Eurobum" but one thing you have to remember, if Hopkins is in his prime, so is Joe, and on the only evidence we have to judge such a fight, Joe still wins.
Bernard lost to a white boy, deal with it.
