Why Miguel Cotto is the best name to have on your resume right now...

Why does everyone keep saying Floyd won't get full credit for beating Cotto? I'm rooting for Cotto and Floyd gets 100% credit if he wins, and I don't know anyone else who disagrees. Anyone? exactly, the reason floyd gets shit for the Baldi, DLH and Hatton fights is because those werent highly demanded fights. how is he not going to get credit for a fight he HIMSELF is asked about 24/7? makes no damn sense.

depends on who beats Cotto... if Floyd beats Cotto there will be some excuse to not give Floyd full credit for beating Cotto. sorry but that is the most played out statement on boxing scene. floyd has no one to blame for himself if the community thinks that. its no secret he has been careful in selecting who he fights after moving up in weight. why is it that Floyd happens to be the fighter that has that looming over him the most? why is he such a disputed champion? De La Hoya, RJJ, Lewis, none of them have received as much criticism for their resume as Floyd has and why is that?

Since I have not seen all of Cotto's fights, my question, are any of Cotto's wins close or considered bad decisions? I know Mosley was close, but other than that, idk. I'm sure a Cotto loyal will know. The Quintana and Gomez fights were bad decisions. They were robbed. Win or lose Cotto is good to have as an opponent. He brings a lot of exposure to fighters and even in there defeat he doesn't hurt there marketability. He actually increases there marketability even when they lose to him via KO. Torres, Paulie, Mausa, Quintana all had title shots and won belts very soon AFTER losing to Cotto.

Very good point, but haters will always find something. For example if he fought Mayweather and PBF managed to stop him they'd point to Cotto's suspect chin due to being hurt by Corley, Torres, et cetera, you know how haters are. a suspect chin is part of a boxer. that would never be used as an excuse. No one ever used Varga's chin as an excuse for a loss.

98% of all elite fighters have a certain label attached to them when they lose: 1. Too small (De La Hoya against Hopkins) 2. Too old (Hopkins against Calzaghe) 3. Too green (Witter against Judah) 4. Too unskilled (Corrales against Mayweather) 5. Killing themselves to make weight (Miranda against Pavlik) 6. Hasn't fought anyone (Adamek against Dawson) Do you know which of those categories Miguel Cotto falls under? None! He is at the proper weight, where he is very big, but doesn't kill himself to make weight. He isn't past his prime at all, but he is a very established great fighter/champion. He is one of the most skillful fighters in the game and has one of the best resumes in the sport that I can think of. Not only does he have some great names on his resume, but he has beaten most of them in a very impressive fashion. Oh yeah, and he also has a tremendous amatuer background which is always a nice addition to any fighter. Is there another beast in the sport who doesn't have a ready-made excuse attached to them if they lose? I can't think of any, at all. depends on who beats Cotto... if Floyd beats Cotto there will be some excuse to not give Floyd full credit for beating Cotto.

You forgot if Margarito even scratches Cotto in their upcoming fight, the excuse will be that Antonio softened him up and therefore Floyd beating him doesn't count. It's always something..........but oh well.

Side note: I can't imagine a better job done by a management team being done than by the one done by Cotto's team. He has maybe 2 or 3 terrible fighters on his resume in his first 10 fights or so. After that, starting with Justin Juuko, he started slowly moving up from decent to better, until he got up to the Shane Mosleys of the world. Who can you think of that had a better set of accomplishments at their age than Cotto does now. He is still a few years under 30 isn't he? he turns 28 in october. i don't know why but to me he could be what lennox was to the heavies.you know awesome artillery average chin.......i don't know why i think that.:D

because Mayweather wants an easy living I guess, maybe he is a little scared but he has the tools to completely outbox Cottot to a wide UD Having the tools, and actually putting them to the test are 2 totally different things. Nobody is saying that he DOESNT have the tools, but u dont win fights by "saying" that u can beat someone. U have to actually get in the ring and prove it.
