It starts at 9 tonight.
Kevin Johnson is an American 'prospect', but hes already 28 or so, and I havent been too impressed with him.
Terry Smith is nothing remarkable, hes been in a number of entertaining fights and may be almost at the end of his career. hopefully he can make this fight entertaining.
Johnson is a prospect for such a shallow Heavyweight division, so we should care at least a little. and at least FNFs will probebly have some info on Calzaghe vs Hopkins, so you really wouldnt be missing out.
other matches are supposed to be on Telefutura, anyone know anything about that?
I dont know what the undercard is for FNFs, maybe itll be something good.
I don't care if he won, Johnson fought like a lazy bum. I wouldn't walk across the street to watch him fight.
you took the words right out of my mouth
guy shouldnt be allowed on television, is rather watch a replay of dirrell/stevens than watch this guy again.
one positive out of it is that i know when johnson fights someone good i can bet on the other guy and not have to worry bout losing my money
What about Travis Walker? His one loss was the worst early stoppage I've ever seen. Joey Abell's one loss was a (home town) early stoppage as well.
I like Eddie Chambers, Abell and Walker but the other young American heavyweights don't impress me much.
eh, theyre all ok...Only have seen a little of Abell, like what I can find on youtube, and Walker doesnt look half bad either. I have the most faith in Eddie, but that damn guy need to lose some wait and get in shape. he would be so much better...if he could have thrown more punches against Povetkin, I definately could have seen him winning that fight.
hopefully Dimitrenko will be getting better in the future. he needs to work on some stuff, but overall I think hes the most promising prospect overall right now...
haha, look at this guy. http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=343636&cat=boxer
the Great White Hope is his nickname. hahahha. I hope he becomes a star.
Kevin Johnson will not be able to compete with any of the top 25 heavyweights.
They turned down a fight with Eddie Chambers for the USBA heavyweight title - his management knew he couldn't win, so they wisely chose to have him fight the shot Terry Smith, who had lost his last two fights (and three of his last four).
The Terry Smith of a couple of years ago would have beaten Kevin Johnson.
yea, like I said, I was never impressed with this guy. I was giving more rounds to him than you were, you must have been missing the few clean punches he landed in some of the rounds, but Terry has been on the downslide for a while, sadly.
It would be nice to find someone who isnt a bum and throws more than 30 punches a damn round...
and the scorecards are in
the usual ESPN hometown decision johnson wins scorecards as usual way exaggerated in favor of the homeboy
but he is a living proof why american heavyweights currently suck
lol....it was terry smith's hometown
you obviously didnt watch shit
Kevin Johnson is a very good fighter except he hasn't shown enough power. People like Chris Byrd and Eddie Chambers have more snap on their punches than Johnson. "The Kingpin" reminds me a lot of Larry Donald.
Here's the funniest interview I've ever read, where Kevin says one of the other heavyweights "looks like a big monkey" and the division is full of "bums and crack heads":

That had to be one of the funniest interviews I have ever read. "Look at his stance it's like Half monkey half Kangaroo."

yea, funny guy, hes supposed to have quite a mouth.
heres an article on him and this fight tonight... http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/columns/story?columnist=tessitore_joe&id=3349808
Im not too impressed with Johnson really...but I havent seen much of him. Well, if he is anything worthwhile, he better get his ass moving, hes 28 already and has little to no good wins on his record, along with the fact that he has a tiny fanbase.
guess Ill be tuning in now.
Edit: Hey! Roy Jones! and Amir Khan and Byrd are supposed to be coming by they said. interesting.

Quick question: How is the hw division "shallow?" I've read numerous boxing writers and fans in recent years chastise the hw division and label it 'shallow' when if fact, their are many good fighters...
Klitschko, Chagaev, Valuev, Peter, Virchis, Dimitrenko, Gomez, and the list goes on. Take a closer look and you'll find that the once 'shallow' hw division is getting deeper with talent and good fighters...
