And I don't just mean poor results. Which fights do you personally feel were underperformed, poorly perfomed, by a given fighter? This would be something more like choking, having a bad night, ect.
An example of this would be the night Ricky Hatton fought Floyd Mayweather. Not only was Ricky in deep water, but he didn't give us a fraction of what he's normally capable of. No fire, no passion, ect.
Now, this isn't about diminishing the accomplisments of great men, this is about understanding the multi-dimensional complexity of life and sport. :fing02:
If you were't the most ridiculous Cotto cumshake drinker that might register. You are him, baby. #1 worst here. Congrats. :fing02:
Read the post again, girl. Your response is whiny nonsense.
I guess what I said is true.
Hey, Addison did anyone in Cotto's family molest you as a kid. You really have something against this guy maybe you should get some counseling. And Gomez didn't have a bad performance, he was just a outclassed and his face told a whole different story than the one you're telling. Gomez took one hell of a beating.

I guess it's fair to put Gomez in there. His godawful balance and gimpy legs got capitalized on big time. That gave the appearance that he was really getting a whooping - and I think he was, but prehaps not quite as bad as it appeared on first impression. He hung his head like a beaten old horse when the doctor stopped it though. He had a bad performance, but he also hit Cotto with some good shots and went in with a pathetic gameplan.
Cotto is one of the best in the sport, if not the very best, in terms of playing to his in-house audience and the judges. It's very theatrical when he lands one jab and his fans all orgasm in unison.. :lol1:
Cotto dances away and acts like he just knocked out Goliath with one punch. You almost expect him to breathe on his nails and whipe them off..

I find it hard to fault Hatton he is what he is and he wasn't allowed to fight inside.
He wasn't going to baffle Floyd he was going to rough him up, bust him up, and make him fight. Didn't happen.
HaHA.. Well of course Ricky didn't fault himself for that did he? :lol1:
Yet somehow Ricky faulted his own. He was thinking too much. He said it. You can't be thinking in there, that's what slowed him down and took away his natural flow. A laymen could see the difference. No brainer.

To be fair Ricky was allowed to do as he pleased against Tszyu. Ricky had nothing for floyd.
and.. he got KO'd by Floyd because of pure desperation.
I couldn't fault his heart, or intensity.

Most have already been mentioned but i thought i d give my opinion :boxing:
Woods against Tarver
Tarver against Hopkins
Lacy against Joe C
Hamed against MAB
and to some extent:
Dawson against Johnson recently....anyone agree he didnt quite bring the goods that everyone seemed/seems to think he has
I still say it wasn't there with the effort. Watch the Tszyu fight - that is what he needed to beat Floyd Mayweather. That and that only. If he wasn't gonna show up with it, he should have stayed home.

performance wise he could've done better but as far effort i still think it was there. we'll see in his next fight against "normal" competition. fighting guys like floyd , like roy in the old days , makes guys look a lot worse than they really are. even to the point that it looks like they're not trying.
now give me a funny cotto comment......ha ha ha

I don't think Ricky tried his best, because he couldn't bring it out that night. Watch Hatton vs. Tackie - that's the fight I was watching on ESPN when I made this thread. Watch Hatton vs. Tszyu. Now that was a man ablaze, a man with fire inside him. Then watch Hatton vs. Mayweather. It's a different guy. Now, of course Floyd is Floyd, but Hatton did not move at the same speed and intensity. Period. A few pounds didn't change all of that.

i think ricky tried his hardest. floyd was just so much better than him.
winning or losing in the end doesn't detract from your opinion of a fighter as much as their will and determination. as bad as floyd made him look , you can't say he didn't try his hardest. he just got beat by the better man.
i think the worst performances occur when 1 fighter quits. oliver mccall crying is one good example. camacho jr. saying he couldn't see and wanting a technical decision is another. tyson biting holy was his way of quitting.

On the other hand it was a great example of a relatively untested fighter coming out and looking like a beast against the proven champion.
Foreman performed like a champ under the pressure, something he did not do against Muhammad Ali... Now that fight belongs into the worst performances.
Many thought Foreman was just a big, plodding guy who threw wild punches and Frazier would smoke through him.
Well, he was all that... but he also threw those wild punches with devastating power.
The rematch between Holyfield & Tyson is another example of a bad performance. Tyson could've really proved something that night, he was looking good early on but he broke down mentally.
The Frazier Foreman fights really showed how certain styles interact, Joe was used to going forward with his power, but ran into someone more powerful and didn't have another gameplan to deal with it. Ali had the skills in and out of the ring to break down Foreman, before and during the fight. He alienated himself from the moment he stepped off the plane with a German shepherd dog, a breed that had been used in crowd control by the former Belgian colonial rulers.....bad start
No love for Frazier-Foreman.
I am so disappointed. I will limited my comments to current fighters and fights in the last couple of years as the custom dictates.

Cotto is what we call out here a "hot dog."
I twisted my ankle two minutes ago, walking down the stairs with my dog :grr:
How can such a small part of the body hurt so bad I ask? :purity:
I have to say i was truely disappointed with Margarito in his effort against Clottey, They show the fight live in england and i was looking forward to see him because of the "Most feared man in boxing" Label, What i saw was shocking he was wild, swinging and missing with too many shots i was shocked because i expecting a more technical fighter.
Margarito/Clottey
Wlad/Sultan= Embarrassing to say the least from Wlad.

Wouldn't be surprised to see it in the future :boxing:
