the closer and closer that a fight gets the more even it becomes in the minds of people.
This weekend we had Margarito vs Cintron and Cotto vs Gomez. When people heard about the Cotto Gomez one they were baggin on Cotto for taking such an easy fight. Cotto is classes above him. But the closer and closer it got to fight night people started trying to reason out ways how Gomez would beat Cotto. He's a pretty good counter puncher. The night before there were people here talking about Gomez being a live underdog and even more competition then Cintron would be for Margarito.
The fact of the matter is, just like on multiple choice question (I just took a test), your first thought is usually right. The majority of people on here probably thought Hopkins was to old of man to be able to keep the pace Calzaggie would set. Now that the fight is closer people are trying to give reasons for Hopkins to win, he's old but tricky, he's dirtiness will be a factor, he's the best defensive fighter in the world(lol), but just like Gomez's supposed better counter punching skills, many of these traits will be missing.
Your first thought of this fight is probably the one with the least bias and probably right. So here's the question: Who did you think would win initially?
And the public getting fooled isn't just about their own stupidity. I fall into it all the time because I want to see a good fight.
How could that not be from your own stupidity I ask?
This happens all the time. The most exaggerated case I can remember recently was Floyd-Oscar. Due to all the media hype, more and more people believed Oscar would win and the odds kept increasing, by fight time they were almost even.
I think this tends to happen because promoters want to make the fans buy the fights, and they work hard on making the people believe that even mismatches are a lot more even than they appear to be. Since these people are master salesmen, the public gets fooled and actually buys into their bullshit.

Funny thing is: Only the people who were right about the fight outcomes will post here. After a while there will be a person, who says that everybody now claim to had the right outcome and people start to get mad about that
Of course. Sheeple will always act like sheeple.
What I find silly is the fact that so many people "know" everything about a match-up, and start calling people names because they put up a decent argument the other way.
I think Hopkins will win against Calzaghe.
But there is always a factor infinite & unknown, so who the fuck knows what will happen?
THe fighters themselves are trying to figure out how to plan the fight, so the average fan are basically talking out of their ass.
Well then you better be ready to lose all your points because my gut screamed "B-Hop!!!!".
Has something to do with the hbo countdown, too.
They think Bhop won't be the betting favourite, so they show him training with high tech stuff and his 4 trainers, after that they show Calzaghe training with his dad in his little city.

Excellent post, Konstantin. I've actually been thinking about this all day. I was thinking about the B Hop fight and how I didn't give him that much of a chance at first. I think that's because when a fight is first made, you go with your gut analysis. As the fight draws nearer, people think too much and overanalyze things. Same shit happened with Mayweather-Hatton. I was initially like, "Mayweather will starch him".. But as the fight grew nearer I wondered if he might lose. Just goes to show that sometimes it's best to go with your gut.

Can't say I blame them, Hopkins has made a career out of making his critics eat crow.
Yup, this is because the critics never learn.
It's kind of like religious people. No matter how many times you prove to them that they're talking out of their arse, they still will smile and try to convert you.

It's always best to go with your gut.
Let that be the rule, not the exception, and you'll do great in life.
Seriously.

I remember when I was picking Hopkins when the fight was first announced and people treated me as if I were a mental patient, who'd escaped a clinic and found an internet connection.
Funny how the closer the time gets the more even it becomes. I guess people are having second thoughts underestimating Ex.
You are a smart guy.

lol the only thing I said that could be considered an insult to Hopkins was that he isnt the greatest defensive fighter in the world and he will probably be to old for Calzaggie.
Only thing Im saying is some people recently are probably arguing for some fighter to convince themselves.
Another shit post. Stop dissing Hopkins.
Shit post. You ruined it all by dissing Hopkins.
