Seriously, this guy rearranges his opponent's face everytime. I honestly think Mosley was the only one that held up best, but every other fighter he's fought had their face completely rearranged. Is this guy just that heavy handed that he causes his opponent's faces to swell and redden up within the first 2 rounds or so? He's brutal! :ugh:
Its the deference between a thudding punch, and a snappy punch. Snappy punchers are knockout punchers to the head. Thudding punchers are body destroyers.
True, he's a strong puncher, with small hands. And he doesn't have the snap, speed and accuracy to deliver the one punch KO. The best punchers have large hands, are quick with thier punches and look to accurately land the punch on target, i.e., point of the chin or under the ear ala Tito Trinidad.
right but how about the workrate
Cotto's jab will be the key to keep Margarito at bay. I see Cotto beating Margarito to the punch. Margarito will be the one coming forward which will play into Cotto's advantage, all Cotto has to do is keep his head low and aim for the body with a few jabs here and there...especially against a taller opponent like Antonio...
Cotto is def. a really strong fighter....very fast hands, hard puncher, works the body well, throws good combinations, fights at a good pace, whats not to like? This guys awesome!
because there very straight forward and in all honesty must be easy to see coming so even as they bludgeon you're face in they don't KO you. He does it off accumulative punishment. It must be mentally desructive to his opponents and must be extremely punishing.
judah and quinta and paulie arent straight forward at all lol paulie tried boxing cotto but failed once he went down then he tried to fight and got punished some more.
judah was boxin pretty gd first half but then accumlation set in and he cudnet run forever.
quinta cudnet box him because he got hurt early by a powerful body shot then he was afraid to keep his hands up then he jus got killed and didnt wana take another body shot.
Yeh he killed judah, quinta, paulie and gomez but gomez wasnt that gd anyway but was brave those are legit kills gd opposition so far judah, quinta, paulie and mosely his best wins and his best performances and his best names which is kool.
quinta is gd before people down him he exposed williams and paulie is a champ at the moment hes gd to.
Good question. I want to know why Cotto hits guys and fucks up their faces, but they don't go down from head shots? That make any sense? Why do his opponents look like they've been beaten with a lead pipe?
Cotto loads up to the body and hits there more often than anyone in decades. That explains that.. To me that part is obvious.

because his opposite is weak, thats why. as long as he keeps fighting bums like Gomeez, he's gon keep fucking up they faces. its all gon stop as soon as he steps up and faces Paul Williams like he should have done a long time ago.
His opposite is weak? How about Mosley, Zab and/ or Quintana (who beat Williams)? and I don't know why are you talking shit about Cotto steping up and facing Williams because he already defeated the guy who beat him (Quintana) and your boyfriend (Mayweather) hasn't faught Williams, and your boyfriend is also the guy who fears Cotto when they mention his name.
I came across this video looking for Margarito stuff. Did you watch it?
Addison, maybe he's wearing brass knuckles under his gloves that's actually more plaussible than that nonsense you're trying to spread.

and not even mosley had a small swollen right cheek and was bleeding a little from his right ear.

TWO WORDS GOOD TIMING!
This is for the archive, my man Cotto gave Alfonso Gomez AIDS. :lol1:
Look at Alfonso's forehead. :wtf: :wtf:
How the fuck does that happen? Somebody explain that..

Is Cotto just this so called "freak of nature," or are the laws of physics somehow different when he hits people? Why do his punches create lacerations, severe swelling and bruising on the face, and severe and extreme damage to the body - and yet he rarely drops opponents from the individual punches themselves? Why so many guys taking knees, and looking like they have full blown AIDS after he gets done with them, ect?
...You've heard what I have to say about the pressurized gloves, the clear as day excessive taping, the crushed tops literally bent over and pointing off at an angle because they're wrapped so tight..
I'm not saying it's illegal - who cares, it hasn't been a problem.. But is there an association? Or is this all a coincidence?
there is a term for that, where they pull the glove tight and tie it high and tight to increase the damage it can do but it is illegal or at least frowned upon and when Ive seen it before on other fightersvit doesnt look anything like Cotto's gloves ....and the only thing I noticed from the Gomez fight was that his right was taped a little higher than Gomez' gloves. I believe Cotto's abilty to damage his opponents comes from a combination of his accuracy, speed, power and maybe the fact that he has smaller than usual hands than many fighters maybe making the impact denser and more concentrated,,,ok Im reaching here the mother fucker can hit.
I love conspiracy theories!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
in your pic, it looks like migs is giving him a heavy handed hug, that shit looks painful on gomez's face!
Part of it has to do with the fact that he doesn't have that much power. Above average to be sure, but not the one-and-done stuff of the likes of Tommy Hearns. So, he'll catch you clean on the face with a hard shot, but you won't go down, you won't go back, you probably won't get wobbled or buzzed, you'll just feel it. Big time. And he'll hit you again and again and again until the accumulation (and subsequent damage) makes you stop. Plus, his reliance on the body attack is obvious.
It's similar to the situation with Kelly Pavlik. He won't Julian Jackson, backfoot cold-cock you, but he'll wear your face into mush over a series of rounds. Look what happened to Edison Miranda.
I think there's a term that can be applied, one that describes a puncher's power in rather abstract and scientifically unfounded terms, but nevertheless seems to be quite apt in the occasionally physically counterintuitve world of boxing. "Heavy handed". Kelly Pavlik and Miguel Cotto are heavy handed, in the sense that, no matter where they hit you, it hurts, and it feels like they're actually packing rocks instead of fists.
Excellent post.
