The Cotto hype - do you buy it?

For one Cotto has an unique opportunity to get a jump to the number one status, yes that is floyd mayweather. But he needs to get to him FIRST. Lets face it, Floyd is getting older. He's 31 and his style relies as much on speed and sharp reflexes as Roy Jones' did. Meaning he will start losing soon provided he keeps fighting. Whoever beats him, no matter in what condition, will be seen as the new star, whoever he is, that's how big mayweather got. Cotto losing would throw him right back with the likes of Citron, Margarito and Williams, which isn't a bad place to be, not at all, but it's not quite THE spot he wants. Interesting but i don't buy it. Arum wouldn't do that. As much as we hate him for representing stuff we wanted out of boxing (he could take don king with him on his way out btw and Golden boy as an brand, leaving oscar though) one thing he is not is dumb. Cotto has earned his consideration as a winner. We don't know how Alexander The Great, Napolean, or Ghengis Khan pulled off all their victories.. Some of them may have been by the skin of their teeth or through nefarious means.. Who knows? I give Cotto props as a winner. To me it's blatantly obvious though that Top Rank has about as much actual faith in Cotto as some of his worst detractors. There's a reason Top Rank is again attempting to roll out Margarito and Cotto on the same East Coast double feature against opponents they are heavily favored to beat. As we all know the plan is for Tony and Miguel to face each other later this year, and as I've said before; Top Rank undoubtedly believes that Margarito can, and will, beat Cotto. It's a setup. They want to split their investment. It's not even nescessary to consider who would win - just look at the simple business of it. If Cotto wins it further damages Margarito's market value but does little to increase his, if Margarito wins it will exponentially boost his value and do little to no damage whatsoever to Miguel Cotto's market value. Maybe even Quintana rematch, since he beat Williams, and he could have unified....Mosley rematch wouldn't be a bad choice seeing that it was a close fight.
