It seems that the whole of the United Kingdom is right behind him!

A little strong mate, I dont thing the majority think he's a racist, perhaps ignorant and rude though. Yes there's been talk on both sides, but Joe's has usually been in retaliation, not as bad, and more fight related, less about colour and countries.
I do find Bernard pretty dis respectfu and overly personal. He criticises figthing in Europe, and says yanks are better fighters than brits, I mean blimey what a broad and inaccurate statement not supported by fact. He slips up on his opponents nationality. Makes racial slurs. Attacks quite personally his father and trainer, and there's so much more. It's way below the belt. He can't see the line. He's a professional sports men and needs to act at least a bit more respectably.
I think alot of people get angry with the British on this site because many of the British fans start calling anyone who questions Calzaghe's resume in the slightest a fat/ignorant/lazy/stupid American.
Stop being so sensitive... it's fucking boxing, dude.
I am not being sensitive, man.
I was just putting across my point of view.
as though just as many Cal fans don't talk the same way about hop. Yeah right. I don't much like either guy but i'm objective enough that fans of both camps are running their mouths.
Hopkins has no class and is a racist so I do not believe that he deserves any respect from British fans, sir.
Whilst people whom antagonise and flame un necessarily isn't on, respectful, valid, constructive criticism largely exists on both sides.
Yanks ignorance on Calzaghe has been proven to be valid before, so it's reasonable to say it's still there for many.
Much of the US public believed Lacy was a big fighter on the rise to beat Calz on the decline, even HBO's fight countdown the other night said boxing writers were proven drastically wrong.
Joes career as a whole hasn't received the recognition it deserves and it's really starting to, with an influx of documentaries and attention now.
Joe hasn't fought in the US which is a large reason for still being under estimated out there, which is valid. Many predicted Lacy to win with some ignorance to Joe's abilities. Some, are predicting Hopkins to win, with some ignorance to Joe's abilities still. This is what he's aiming to address, to prove himself, and get that recognition to the level many believe it should be.
I hear you on that. But, to some degree it has turned into this situation where you guys feel like you can't criticize any of the opponent choices Calzaghe/Warren has made... and I don't think that's fair.
I'm a huge fan of Kelly Pavlik and I'm upset that he's fighting two middle of the road contenders in his next two fights rather than Wright or Abraham.
You can try to look at these things objectively... the result will be better fights... if we don't defend these shams and excuses.

Many American people on here who hate the British, despite us being the only country on the planet that really stood by them after 9/11, say that Calzaghe will simply be destroyed by Hopkins and that the twelve year World Champ does not deserve to be in the same ring as Hopkins!
Such stupidity really worries me, but I am thankful that are only a tiny amount of people are so idiotic.
The fight is very evenly poised.

Please let me know how I can back it up and I will gladly do so.
Can you provide proof that it isn't true? As I said elsewhere, it works both ways.
So you don't know if it's true then? Roy wanted nothing to do with Joe? something you've probably heard from the man on the street! doesn't mean it's true does it?
Either way, this fight should have happened one way or another. It would have been Joe biggest challenge and would have defined his career full stop.
Washed up or not, Joe should take the fight with Roy. It wouldn't look good for Joe if he knocked Roy back especially when he's jumping in the ring with another old timer in Hopkins.
I can't imagine that Jones would want anything to do with Joe. At the moment he just seems to be trying to get fights with smaller guys who he can pretty much guarentee wins against. Even suggesting boxing smaller MMA guys. I think Joe would KO Jones and I would love to see it. If Joe keeps on winning then the fights with Jones and Pavlik have to happen.
You need to back that up, otherwise bullshit!

If I was Joe, I wouldn't bother with Jones. Roy wants a big fight with Joe now the tables have turned and Calzaghe holds the aces, but previously Jones wanted nothing to do with Calzagjhe when he had a chance.
Joe, please tell Roy where to get off.

Fight Roy Jones!
Joe has nothing to gain by beating a washed up Jones. The only advantage Jones had over Joe was speed, but that advantage no longer exists. Joe has the higher KO ratio, the better chin (Roy lost by KO twice, Joe didn't) and the better stamina. Right now, Joe embarrasses anybody in the 160-175 range, and that includes Pavlik.

When you imagine that this country of idiots is being run by someone who even they consider to be an idiot, you really do have to think long and hard about why Americans think they are so great.....

Joe Calzaghe will destroy Hopkins and prove to the world he's the P4P #1!
Joe has said recently that after Hopkins he would like to fight Pavlik or Jones, depending on which will be the bigger payday. Joe sounds like he's leaning towards a match with Pavlik at 168 though.

Fight Roy Jones!
That would be great, but he has to beat Hopkins first, who is a great fighter that many think will destroy him.
Either way, if he wants any more huge fights, he wil have to be quick about it as he is 36.
Speaking of this issue of Boxing Monthly; only one UK trade pro picked against Calzaghe. Duke McKenzie favored Hopkins by controversial decision.
It wouldn't have anything to do with Calzaghe being white would it? We all saw in the Calzaghe/Kessler fight that Calzaghe is also a great counter puncher like Hopkins if not better and faster.
