I don't know much of his career. I'm going for cotto 100% but I was wondering if he was ever knocked down by ANY fighter in the past?
looking to make a side bet, experts say it will last less than 10 rounds. I'm not so sure.
Any one knows? If he has, which fight?
thanks!:boxing:
i dont think gomez will win, but if an upset does happen...can u imagine all the crazy shit tht would happen??? especially on this site?? it would b so much fun.but then again if it did happen we would probably have a even lesser chance of seeing cotto v mayweather
What I know is that Cotto was nearly KDed by Demarcus Chop Chop Corley when they fought and made him look like an ordinary fighter.
In my opinion, Cotto has been hurt three times in his career. Corley and Judah hurt Cotto because he dint see the punches coming. Torres is very flawed but has great punching power. Cotto squared up and exchanged with him and he almost got KTFO. Gomez doesnt punch with angles and he is not that fast. That leads me to believe that Cotto will see his punches coming and he will not be hurt. I believe Gomez and Cotto will have a lot of exchanges, but Gomez does not have the punching power that Torres have.
I think this will be a great fight as long as it lasts; neither are going to back up, both will try to pressure the other. Cotto will get hit, but I just dont see Gomez having enough power to make Cotto cautious/tentative.
Gomez says he has been in the ring with fighters at 154 and 160, so he has tasted punches from heavier guys. Thats true, but Cotto is in a whole different level from those guys Gomez fought. Cotto might not have the power to knock Gomez out, but thats not Cotto's style anyway. Cotto breaks down his opponents with accumulation of punches. Gomez might have taken punches from harder hitting boxers, but I assure you he has not tasted the constant punishment he will receive from Cotto. Getting hit non-stop with heavy hand is not the same as shaking off one huge punch.
Prediction: referee stops the fight somewhere between the 6th and 8th round.
He's only had like 20 or so fights, and against average to bad opposition. I HOPE he hasn't been knocked down. It only takes 20 fights against weak fighters to prove you have an iron jaw now? lol you guys make me laugh sometimes.
Cotto is going to demolish him, and it WONT be a decision. This fight will be a mismatch and a joke.
In boxing, an upset is always a possibility but I give fonso a very slim 1% to 5 % chance of making an upset. I like fonso as a fighter and I salute him when he beat manfredo in their first contender fight but Cotto is a different animal. On the original question of this thread, I have no idea. What I know is that Cotto was nearly KDed by Demarcus Chop Chop Corley when they fought and made him look like an ordinary fighter.
i think he might survive the over under but ref will stop it shortly after.
I dont think it would happen but i cant wait for the first major upset of the year, if it happens in this fight it will be big.
This is Cotto we're talking about. He won't waste his time going to the head on a guy with a good chin, if Miguel is focused properly. Alfonso's body is a very good target area, he doesn't have the best legs as we all know.
If Miguel gets straight to his signature work; Joe is going to be able to relax, and I am going to start sweating. :lol1:

I'd be willing to make a side bet that Gomez is gone before the 10th round.
Gomez will be Ko- you will see
The fight will be stop bebore the 8 round, Gomez will be badly hurt, remember his jaw was badly hurt, and the pancreas situation will slow him, with a solid punch.
He's been knocked down one time, a flash knockdown in the first round of the first fight of his career. His chin is very good. Whether Cotto will have a long night or not is pretty much dependent on how Gomez can take his body assault.
he asked a question I answered with what I knew and on that night I think they were at junior middle.
nah they were at Middleweight, so every punch was multiplied because of the size difference.
Yes! I heard he has a strong chin.
I think he'll probably end up with his whole head all swollen. Eyes, lips, nose…
But no KO.
Idk man, its gonna be hella tough for Gomez to survive
I dont think Cotto will actually knock Gomez down with a punch, but I do believe the referee will end up stopping the fight at sometime. Gomez has to much heart to go down; and because of this, I think Gomez will take a lot of punishment.
Manfredo had him hurt on left hook to the top of the head in the 2nd round of their first fight and he was wobbled pretty bad.
oh shit if manfredo can wobble him then dam cotto wil kil him lol
He has never been stopped... cant recall him ever being hurt other then his broken hand in the tackie fight...
But Gomez is really tough so it wouldnt surprise me if he hasnt been down. He has a lot of heart
