You can usually have only limited success if you only have one or the other. Speed, some pop (enough to get respect), otherwise the guy will just walk you down without regard and corner you. If you have power you gotta have some speed and good timing. Look at guys like Cotto, JMM, Israel Vazquez they are not the fastest but they have very good timing. Cotto's power and timing beat Malignaggi's raw speed. Calz's speed and footwork demonlished Lacey. Taylor has a significant hand speed advantage over Pavlik and he lost twice. DLH has a significant power advantage at jrMW and he lost to PBF.

You can have power but you gotta actually hit the guy with it to be affective. Now for speed? You have more of a chance of landing on him and scoring and even a knockdown or technical ko from the punishment.
