i dont think he is a bum! but i have seen it used on here with reference to Hatton plenty of times by yanks! and with most of them thinking Cotto is the cats twat then i wanted opinions on who would win when they was in the same division.
i got the answer judging by the poll.. but the answer is to that is bollocks :)
The word bum is disrespectful even to actual bums.
I mean the ones who drinks Cider, and wrap themselves in tin foil.
No need to bring my dad into this..
Threads like this should be shot at birth.

140 - Hatton
147 - Cotto
Cotto didn't seem to have much of a chin when he had to weight drain himself and his jab was never as good at that weight.
Good point, 147 is a bridge too far for Hatton and 140 is too draining on Cotto, I'd go along with that assessment. Although being a twat, a voted for Cotto before i read that it was at 140 !!!! I am a dumbass
WOW the poll has cotto winning.
I just dont see him beating Hatton at 140
and to clear it up i meant a year or so ago when Cotto was belt holder at 140.
I remember Frank Warren SAYING he was trying to make the fight but Cotto's people priced themselves out (Wank Warrens usual excuse)
I think if they got matched at 147 cotto is bigger and stronger and would win a UD or stop Hatton with body shots.
At 147, it's Cotto in a blowout. At 140, it's Cotto in a somewhat competitive fight, where he probably gets rattled a few times by Hatton due to the weight drain but his superior size and skills eventually allow him to stop Hatton.
I don't think that he is a bum. I just think that in his last fight, he was overmatched. But that alone doesn't make him a bum. A bum a nobody. A bum a guy who would take a fight with anyone just for a some quick change. A bum is someone who has lost MORE than one fight. From my own definition, Hatton isn't I bum.
I don't think that he will be back at 47, he struggled in all his fights at 47. I think he is more comfortable at 40 and I would have LOVED to see him fight Cotto at 40....truth is, Cotto can't make 40 no more. So if they did fight, it would be at 47 and I like Miguel in that one.
Cotto's not fighting at 140 again, and he'd have incredible difficulty making that weight so this debate seems a bit odd. Are we debating whether or not Cotto will be healthy enough to be competive at 140? Possibly but he's not ever going away from the better weightclass so who cares. Spinks might be able to knock out Pavlik at 154 b/c Pavlik would be so sickly but it wouldn't credit Spinks any.
If you take the Cotto of 4-5 fights BEFORE Malignaggi when he wasn't struggling to make weight as badly Cotto would win.
Cotto is just a better boxer with more power. Cotto would be just as strong and just as good an athlete as Hatton and if Hatton isn't stronger than his opponent then he struggles. Hatton's success depends on his athletic superiority i.e. Strength, speed, stamina, workrate, he is not a "skilled" fighter.
Cotto has beaten better athletes than him with boxing skill. People dismiss Hatton's struggles against Collazo and PBF as just weight issues at 147lbs. But they fail to acknowledge that they are the best athletes he has faced. They are also the best fighters he has faced (Tzu has a greater legacy than Collazo but wasn't as good a fighter at time of fight).
Thats the reason why Hatton can't cut it at WW. He is not stronger than them or a significantly better athlete than the top guys. Cotto would beat Hatton at either weight.
140 - Hatton
147 - Cotto
I agree.
At 140 it would be close but Hatton would take it. Cotto is a natural WW. He always looked a little drained at 140.
At 147 Cotto would win.
The weight would make a difference, but I think Cotto would still pull it off. Torres clocked Cotto with some vicious upper cuts which Hatton doesn't really use in his arsenal as opposed to his swingin body shots. Hatton' style is open season for Cotto at 140 or 147.
Cotto was still able to get up after being knocked down by a tough puncher and ended up TKO'n him.
He'd kill Hatton at 147, and would still win at 140.
Just because Hatton lost to the best fighter on the planet doesn't make him a bum, he's still the best 140 pounder out there IMO.
At 140, it's a toss up fight because of Cotto's trouble in making weight.
At 147, Cotto would knock Hatton out.
