Who thinks Edison Miranda is overrated?

It seems a lot of people on this forum seriously overrate Miranda and what he has accomplished. They are calling out for him to get a shot at the best guy in the division Kessler (now that Joe C is up at Lightheavyweight). Who exactly has Miranda beaten to be worth a mention of getting at shot at the top guy in the division after beating two medicore opponents himself? David Banks couldn't even win a fight on the Contender so that win means shit. Henry Porras, who the fuck is he? So Miranda has beaten no one at SMW worth a lick yet he should be getting a shot at the top guys? Makes no sense. He never held a title at MW, he got KO'd by Pavlik, beat Allan Green but got knocked down in the process. I guess he is most noted for breaking Abraham's jaw in a fight he lost (albeit shady). Don't get me wrong I'm not a hater, I love the guy's trash talking especially. But I see him for what he is, a limited brawler who can be outboxed. Let him beat someone ranked in the top 10 at SMW and then maybe he can talk about fighting Kessler. Until then he is really an untested quantity IMO. thoughts?

stay on point dude, this thread aint about Mundine, although certain posters have hijacked it to talk about Mundine (cough Ult cough). do you think Miranda is overrated? Skill wise? yes i do to an extent. But he still has the capability to make any fight interesting and has the ability to get the W. He gave Pavlik all he could handle for many rounds, and even did more with Abraham. Even though he stepped up twice and lost twice (one disputable), IMO he gave a good account of himself in both. Fought his heart out and will be a tough fight for anyone. This is why he is avoided. He is not easy pickins like so many want to believe. he will create scary moments for anyone, especially at 168 where he appears even stronger.

Miranda is one the most overrated fighters in the sport....Miranda was exposed badly by Pavlik and destroyed in 7 rounds...He is a one dimensional fighter that lacks the technique and skill to hang with the elite...Miranda is lucky Kessler let him off the hook, Miranda would've suffered a terrible beating, possibly even worse than the savage beating he received from Pavlik.

Kessler vs Mundine 2 will be a good fight but I can only see one winner. If it was Mundine with the power advantage then maybe he'd have a better chance but I just see Kessler picking up all the latter rounds and wearing Mundine down with all the bombs he throws.

He didnt' fight Mundine. He fought a very early Mundine. And I suppose Sven "Feather Fists" Ottke didn't KTFO Mundine either. I'm afraid, you're coming across as the most obsessed Mundine drum-banger imaginable. I'll grant you, Mundine (I mean THIS Mundine, not the OTHER Mundine who was not Mundine) is a good fighter. No question about it. But he's nowhere near great let alone Elite. Yes, he has improved since he fought Ottke, but I'm not sure he's capable of much more than what we see now. And what I see is a durable SMW (on the wrong side of 30) who's swimming next to some big sharks namely Kessler, Bute, Calzaghe (if he drops back down from LHW) etc. Who knows, maybe if he'd turned to boxing first instead of RL he'd be up there with Calzaghe and Kessler. The fact is he didn't and he's not getting any younger.

He didnt' fight Mundine. He fought a very early Mundine. If they were to fight now Mundine would win by TKO within 4 rounds. I think you guys are missing the point on choc. The guy had no amateur experience. His fans are first to admit he was shot back then. But he has improved shit loads since 2005, he is a world class fighter now. Judging Mundine from any earlier than his fight with Kessler, is not judging the same fighter that enters the ring today. maybe but Kessler has already beaten a verison of Mundine and he beat Siaca easily & he also has improved since he beat these 2 fighters

He is one of the most over rated fighters in the game. Both Kessler and Mundine would destroy him within 6 rounds. Its a shame some so called boxing fans would rather see an A class fighter against a C class fighter, rather than 2 a class fighters going at it. Msg to Miranda fans : Sure knocking out guys cold looks good. But you have to take into account the fact that they have had 10 losses and can't take a punch. Im sure Mundine has bigger one punch power than Miranda. That shot he landed on Soliman in the 2nd is bigger than anything Miranda possesses. manny siaca beat mundine...what makes u think he'll beat miranda???

Miranda is vastly overrated. While it would have been cool to see Kessler give him a brutal beating, I'm not particularly bothered the fight isn't happening. Miranda doesn't particularly deserve a fight with Kessler. I'd have still rather seen Kessler fight Bute than Mundine again though.
