I have yet to hear anybody offer a reasonable defense of Cortez's performance that night. Cortez was terrible on the night, but in my eyes it doesn't change the outcome of the fight at all. Maybe Hatton doesn't get knocked out if Cortez is fairer, but he still loses a decision to Mayweather simply because he didn't land enough clean shots.
