hahaha, wud u think between joe and roy?
Roy has more pop at the end of his punches tho and makes that bag move better with his rhythm, his flow....Joe on the other hand has just quick hands to keep up with the bag.... das my opinion..
Roy always had alarmingly fast hands. The kind of hands that would be down by his ankles, on the other side of the ring at one moment, and then holding up his belts in the post fight interview while your corner tried to revive you the next. He still looks great too, as per that training video (the guy in the white shirt looked pretty quick too).
But Joe C. has some impressive speed too - P4P, among the fastest in recent memory - and he flurries brilliantly, more so in actual fights than in training.
joe can fight... i dont knock him... im not even sayin roy would win... but he COULD... i was mostly talkin about a 39 yr olds hand speed comparin to joes thats all...
Yep, gotcha. Roy looks amazing for his age. I can't knock the guy either. Roy and Joe kick much butt. Some of my fave fighters of all time.
Roy looked happy, btw. Nice to see that.

i was jus talkin about look at the diff in training... thats ALL i was sayin
OK, fair enough. I thought you'd posted that as if to say "Calzaghe ain't shit, Roy is better".
Roy looked good there, btw. Very sharp.
i mean, he looked good... but to put it in perspective, u seen him on that double end bag..??
watch the last 3 minutes of this video... roy this year... on the same bag
the other boxers trying to emulate what roy did was kinda funny...nice tries, but no comparison lol..
That's all well and good, I like Roy, but I thought he was supposed to KO Trinidad in 4?
Funny how we sit here comparing hand speed, btw. We all know very well that no opponent is gonna just stand there like a buffoon and allow the other guy to blast away with 15,000 shots per second. Right? Right. This is all pointless. there's no point in dissing Joe's fighting skills or trying to predict what he will do based on a 2 minute media workout on on a punchball. Joe wasn't even going for speed on that ball anyway.

Calzaghe looked like shit. I can't wait until he leans forward into Hopkins like that because he's going to find himself looking up at the lights.:boxing:
I agree. He has the same problems as Ricky Hatton did. And people said, "oh, he's just training." Look what happened to Ricky Hatton.
The only way Hopkins can stop Joe Calzaghe is a body shot, but I see Bernard widely outboxing and making him look bad with feints.
Joe is a great competitor...looks good for a LHW so far, I see the speed didn't go anywhere... although B-Hop is known to take an opponent's best weapon, in this case happens to be Joe's fast hands....
Therefore, I predict Bernard somehow angle himself to where Joe will land but hurt one of his hands...once B-Hop see's Joe's hands in pain he'll take advantage knowing Joe can't do any damage, go for the kill... Hopkins is gonna bring pain to Joe's hands on April 19...how??.....we'll just have to tune in..
Whatever, You sound like the guys girlfriend. You probably jerk off to his fights every night. You probably have the Lacy fight hidden in with your porno stash.
I'm not going argue with you. Your obviously an intellectual giant.
I would be a fool to enter a debate. You will only befuddle me with a vast vocubulary that a mortal like me will not be able to understand. Like a Wizard who uses words you will perplex me with gay taunts, schoolboy jibes, and incomprehensible bullshit.

Oooh, good comeback!
Thank you so much for blessing BoxingScene forums with your razor-sharp wit.
That Mitchell shot was perfect in every way. He got full leverage and Joe lean't into it.

Right on.
Only reason he holds back is because he risks breaking his hands. It's a shame, because otherwise we'd see a whole lot more Calzaghe KO's. He will only ever use full power if he has to. If he can win a fight without smashing his hands to bits, it's the obvious way to go. That said, I think Joe's gonna hit Bernard HARD and take a few risks, because 1: he has a lot to prove, and 2: his hands have held up well recently and appear to be in good condition.
First of all, it's just a workout. Obviously, no fighter fights the same way in the ring as they do against a punchball in the gym.
Secondly, He can tag him all he wants. Bernadette doesn't have the power to stop him, so who cares? Unless you're saying Plopkins he has more power than Kessler, Eubank, Reid, Mitchell, etc? He took MASSIVE shots from all of them. The only person who put him on the canvas was battered silly and stopped in the same round (round 2, Byron Mitchell fight).
Bottom line: if you hurt Joe Calzaghe, you're gonna pay for it. And that's not fanboy-ism, it's just true.

look where his hands are at, everything is from the waist. Hopkins is gonna tag him all night.
