I come accross various quotes made about boxing by those from all sorts of professions.
This is not a favourite, but I came across an amusing one by Jake LaMotta;
"The three toughest fighters I've ever been up against were Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Robinson, and Sugar Ray Robinson. I fought Sugar so many times, I'm surprized I'm not diabetic! But I did have him off the canvas once...when he stepped over my body to leave the ring."
Just curious to know what are your favourite/inspiring ones?
Who was it that said
"Miguel Cotto doesn't just beat you, he beats you up".
Jim Lampley said it.
My favorites:
"A champion is someone who gets up when he can't." —Jack Dempsey
"The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym and out there on the road, long before I dance under the lights." —Muhammad Ali
"It's like being in love with a woman. She can be unfaithful, she can be mean, she can be cruel, but it doesn't matter. If you love her, you want her, even though she can do you all kinds of harm. It's the same with me and boxing. It can do me all kinds of harm but I love it." —Floyd Patterson
"Everyone has a plan until they get hit" -Mike Tyson.....shit is actually pretty insightful and profound. Tyson was actually fairly inteligent and had a high boxing IQ since early in his career.
I like Tyson's quote from years back when he was interviewed, and asked why he takes a lot of rage in the ring. His reply was, "We're in a fight anyway so what' difference does it make"

Max Baer on his definition of fear: Standing across the ring from Joe Louis and knowing he wants to go home early.
This thread is really funny....
As Jorgen Hansen knocked Bruno Acari out of the ring Hansen leaned over the ropes and told the reporters: 'You might as well interview him straight away.'
Of course there is all the classic Ali comments. One not so well-known is when Ali said to Frazier: 'Joe you're so ugly that when you cry the tears are running upwards.' I somehow understand that Frazier got pretty mad at Ali.
If they cut my bald head open, they will find one big boxing glove. That's all I am. I live it." - Marvin Hagler
Tony Galento (when asked about the Bard of Avon): "Shakespeare? I ain't never heard of him. I suppose he's one of them foreign heavyweights. They're all lousy. Sure as hell I'll moider de bum."
Willie Pastrano (when asked by the ring doctor if he knew where he was): You're damn right I do. I'm in Madison Square Garden getting the shit knocked out of me.
lol silencers i like that one mate, the old guys seem to have the best quotes. a lot are from the ali, louis eras if you notice
Fighters from those eras are more quotable. Tyson had some......unusual ones.
"to a fighter blood is like expensive champaigne" forgot who said that, ill post later when I get home, iv got a few really cool ones, my trainer has an award thing he got and its got really cool quotes boxers, or boxing realted people (promoters, writers, etc..) have said.
