I don't know why, but I was thinking about this at work today.
What elite (or close to it) fighter in the sport is the most dependent on jabs, and never goes for the KO. They throw jabs at every opening, and then dance away. Once in a great while they throw their straight in, but not often.
Some fighters I thought of:
Paulie Malignaggi
Cory Spinks
Luis Collazo
Joel Casamayor
What can you all come up with?
Joe Calzaghe
Too much volume and engaging to be considered one of the slickest IMO.
He also isn't very jab dependent. He fights more like Roy Jones than Cory Spinks IMO.
i like zahir raheem when he isnt using john ruiz' playbook. cory spinks is slick. zab judah, floyd, malinaggi.... i would have said toney up to about a year and a half ago.
I think Chad Dawson should be considered.
He's just a terrible nightmare for anyone to fight. lol.

Actually he used to dance around trying to be slick in the old days. He did some of that in the first Brewster fight and ran out of gas. Which is why Manny Steward trained him to be more of a "Big Man" in there like his brother Vitali. And it has worked ever since. His 6'6 250lb frame doesn't allow him to be floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee in there.
You know, I can't really imagine a slick heavyweight at all.
Fucking fatasses quickly jabbing and then sliding away. Yeah, it just doesn't work.
I find it hard to imagine Wlad 'dancing away', after throwing a jab. Lol..
But seriously- if Wlad had some more coordinated footwork, he'd be an unstoppable behemoth of destruction.

Since mijares was already mentioned, Hozumi Hasegawa is pretty damn slick too.
Great southpaw who has pretty much no power, but makes up with it with his speed and right jab.
you mean today or overall?
cuz im suspicious of the abscence of sweet pea pernell. and willi pep
today there's plenty, pretty much what others mentioned above
Current. Obviously Casamayor or Collazo are not among the slickest of all-time.
Floyd isn't all that slick IMO.
Not a jabber, in the least. Lead left hook or lead straight right is usually the calling card.
I did forget about Guzman.
I've never seen Calderon or Mijares.
Calderon's relfexes and talent are more impressive than Mijares', IMO. Both are slicksters to the 10th degree, though. You should watch them if you like that style of fighter.

Joan Guzman, Ivan Calderon, and of course Floyd

I'm talking about the OT of throwing jab and being almost totally reliant on that punch with other punches being thrown in moderation. Klitch doesn't dance away but with his size advantage his "step back" when opponents rush forward is just as good.

Dont know about being a "slick" fighter but Klitchko fits perfectly into every other category you have there.

I would definitely ad Christian Mijares.
