As most of you are aware, Bob Arum has been talking up the rumors of a possible DLH-Pac fight for December, mapping out Pac's year presuming a win on Saturday and then another over David Diaz in June. He would be going from 130 to 135, then all the way to AT LEAST 147.
But let's hope he wouldn't be afraid to put Pac in the same ring as his other golden goose, Miguel Cotto. Why doesn't he speculate about this, especially since it remains to be seen if DLH can even sniff 147 again, and frankly, Pac fighting above 147 would be comical.
Why not? Cotto will beat Gomez, then if he beats Marg/Cintron in June, he'd be ready for a mega bout with Pac in December. This all assumes Mr.Mayweather still refuses to fight him after decisioning DLH again.
I don't think the fight itself would be all that competitive. Think Hagler-Hearns of the welterweight division, where Cotto stops Pac after Pac has some brief bright spots.
I don't think Roach has any interest in turning his man into a sideshow. If he's good at lightweight, why not make a solid run there.. it's a pretty stacked division. Besides Pac is god in his country and can easily generate cash so there is no reason to cash out his boxing resume.
$$$$ is the bottom line, clearly.
Pac's biggest possible fight is DLH (as is the case with anybody in the sport). Besides DLH, though, who is it? Hatton.
Hatton's second biggest fight is Pac, followed by Cotto.
Cotto's biggest is Mayweather, followed by whom? It doesn't seem likely Mayweather will fight him any time soon, so who would be after PBF and DLH for Cotto? Hatton? I would rather see Pac-Cotto, lol, I just don't see Hatton having a chance against Cotto.
As professionals, I highly doubt Roach would consider a fight with De La Hoya, Cotto, or Tye Fields.

Cause cotto never started fighting at 130 like oscar.
Cotto has a bigger frame then pacquiao, Cotto is a tank.
Why in the hell will cotto even take that fight? he will be looked at as a serious joke putting pacman against a huge welterweight like margarito, cotto, cintron, williams is sadistic the guy started fighting at 106 pounds.
lol at some of these ridiculous threads.
I don't think the thread is that ridiculous when you consider Arum himself is the one pushing for a fight against DLH. DLH has not fought below 154 in several years. You don't think DLH would get any flak for fighting a guy who started at 108 lbs like Pac? Cotto was at least a 140 fighter for years before the past year and a half.
I was just trying to make a point. I agree that Hatton-Pac is much more feasible and competitive fight, though I still don't know how competitive that is.
i thought i read somewhere (on this site) that Arum said... first JMM then Diaz and then move up to Jun. Welt. and fight Hatton, i think i'd rather see him fight Hatton that Cotto.
Cotto has entirely too much power and would probably destroy Pac
