How are you ducking someone who isn't even in your weight class?
Also, I don't really think the Bernard fight could have been a draw or a decision in his favor. The Vargas and the Taylor fights I do though.
edit: Lost against soliman? :ugh:
Winky at 160 is pretty good. Beat Soliman and blasted Quartey. Jabbed Trinidad to death and then had a close fight with Taylor.
A lot of times when Winky is winning he looks bad doing it. So many of his fights are close because of this I think. He is a fine boxer, but his uninspiring style makes people dislike him. I think he has been on the wrong end of several decisions - but in some fights - like Soliman he performance was so lackluster that I though he just got out hustled and lost the fight. He just does not have the style to inspire. Think of John Ruiz. He has done a lot more than anyone will give him credit for - he is more well known for getting KTFO by Tua and handed his ass by Jones than any fight he has - or likely ever will will - because he is PAINFUL to watch. Winky is not as rough to watch as Ruiz - but he is not inspiring like a Pacman or Vasquez. People would love those guys loosing more often than Winky winning.
Winky Wright possibly the most over-rated fighter of the last 20yrs its him or Hopkins both only beat little guys both have lost when stepped up.
Hey Karlos. Nice sig.....
At 54 winky was great, and all his praise is from riding those coat tails. at 60 and up he has done nothing to warrant the praise he got at 54. bottom line is he has lost or drew when stepping up in weight, regardless of what you think he deserved from the judges! without a claer undisputed victory how is he supposed to get cred for a draw, or loss????? winky got a title shot from taylor without being the #1 contender by what he accomplished at lighter weights, also got a shot and good payday against bhop he did nothing to merrit. he failed to shine, and win in those fights. i think he used up his chances.
Is it me or no one gives this guy credit for his accomplishments I mean he never lost a fight that couldnt have been a draw or decision in his favor
I never see anyone discrediting Winky, if anything I see him as one of the most respected fighters.
There's no way you could have scored the Hopkins fight for him unless you were a fan.
He was robbed blind against Vargas. Won 8 rounds pretty convincingly.
And he's not getting shitted on, he just overprices himself.

He is pretty yellow. He's definetely ducking Mikkel Kessler. But then again: Who doesn't duck Mikkel Kessler?
He has an extremely boring style and no power and his recent poor results have lent credence to the claim that he just isn't that good. He has skills a-plenty but he doesn't really have a plan B. If he gets in a hole he can't get out of it. Plus he's started to take rounds off frequently.
There is one fight early in his career when a guy, I forget his name, did decisively beat him. Other then that, he got robbed twice, Vargas and Taylor. Him and Hopkins was a mess and too close to call. He's a crafty fighter who can beat anyone in his class. Fighters are no willing to take that chance. BTW he is my favorite fighter.
julio caesar vasquez is the guy your talking about. people shit on winky because although a great fighter, he tends to be too defensive minded and can make for a pretty boring fight.
