Not contesting the outcome just seemed the ref stood there and did nothing while a downed Mac was caught in the ropes being battered for no reason.
Step in stop the action give 10 count then proceed, he clearly would have had some chance of continuing...or if he was clearly out of it then stop it there.
IMO you let a Champion who beats the count, has his gloves up, and wants to continue, fight. If he obviously can't defend himself, then you step in and waive it off.
A lot of the time I would agree, Refs get very twitchy nowadays especially some of the English guys. But in this case the ref had an easy decision, if you let fights like that continue people end up seriously hurt.

He was allover the place, even 5 minutes after the fight he was stumbling around the ring, essentially the ref would have been delaying the inevitable and risking a boxers heath at the same time. Most boxers are too proud to accept they can't continue and will always say "I'm alright" it's the refs job to protect them and wave the fight when it's clear a boxer is out of it. Enzo was out of it.
There is NO WAY the ref could have let that fight continue, Enzo was all over the place

:usa:  Stop acting like pussys two warriors got in the ring and one Genghis Khan'd the fuck outta the other one.
Ref let it go on for a bit unlike those pansy yanks that would ave jumped in straight away screaming STOP TEH VIOLENCE!!!!11111
Oh, yea I agree, while Mac was one the ropes he got hit a good number of times flush while he was down. I thought you meant let Mac continue after the KD.
I still dont know exactly whether or not anything from Enzo hit the decks with the first punch, though he certainly held onto the ropes. From the replays I saw, nothing Haye threw landed with any significance in that little flurry afterwards until the shot that ended it.
Yeah he was on spaghetti legs, but he had his hands up and beat the count. I would have given him a shot at defending himself.

As for the count, it looked like he was going down after the straight right, but got caught in the ropes. Then Haye got right in his chest kinda preventing him from going down.
To be fair as soon as that first punch landed it was over.
What the ref should and should not have done is academic. Macca lost the fight the nano second that punch connected.
This brings up a whole new point, hitting while down is a DQ, in the excitement of the moment I didnt even think of that.If they would have DQ'd Haye a riot would have broken out. Haye was also in the excitement of the moment. When you're about to KO a guy you usually keep hitting until ref steps in and it happens in a split second.

he was'nt down though u gloves have to touch the canvas for a knockdown, having said that the referee shoud have pushed Haye out of the way and given him an 8 count cause there is not much u can do when the ropes are holding u up
Dokes v Ruddock
Cooney v Norton

I think the outcome would have been the same, but I think he was allowed to take too much damage is what Im saying. The ref should have jumped in sooner.
Totally agree.
the ref, like just about any other ref these days, failed to do his job. the first big shot was a clear KD. nobody cares about anyones opinion of what would have happened had he done his job, the fact is he failed to do it.

It wouldn't have made a difference IMO. Would have just injured Mac more.

Good stoppage, Macca was running around in circles after he got up, if the fight had continued the only thing that would have happened is Macca getting knocked out even more brutally.
