this guy was awesome...and his right hand had amazing power and accuracy.
its a shame he never went pro, imagine a fight with ali :boxing: ....
i didnt knew about this guy until i read an article of cuban boxing on here...i was impressed by this guy.
opinions??
of course, we never know if they would have been great at pro, but Stevenson seems to have the tools to have been a great champion. well, i hope that on the future cuba will allow their fighters to go pro. stevenson didnt want to get the fight with ali, but most of them just wanted to go pro. its a shame all the wasted talent.
Yes he was great....but it use to piss me off when he was a 30 year old man, beating up 18 year old boys.
I wish he had fought Ali...so he could have been sliced and diced up.
so was savon , all those world champos - contenders he beat . wasnt david tua 16 ?

Stevenson and Savon could've possibly been great heavyweights.
Stevenson was offered a fight with Ali.
But who knows, they both could've turned out like Leon Spinks and Pete Rademacher. Not to take anything away from Spinks and Rademacher, they were successful but thrown to the wolves too early on in their careers.
Rademacher dropped Patterson in his first fight as a pro and Spinks beat Ali in his seventh fight as a pro but both never achieved anything after those fights.
He was offered a lot of money to turn pro but didn't want to, he was one of if not the best amateur heavyweight in history but who knows if he could have apadted his style for the professional ranks.
