Floyd has beaten better competition over a career. Naturally he started his first. Floyd won titles at multiple weights with defenses at some of them. Cotto has not. Cotto's only faced better competition at 147. and at 140 thank u very much.

I bet if there was a poll for every boxing fan to answer, like 85% would say Mayweather would win. The other 15% are probably Puerto Rican or people who hate Mayweather. And I could say well Cotto beat the "sloppy seconds of Floyd" Judah(also coming off a 1-year layoff), and the past prime Shane "I can only fight one way" Mosley. I put Floyd beating Oscar and Cotto beating Shane in the same category. Beating Urkal was nothing. Quintana was a good win. Beating Gomez ain't proving shit either. Well neither is Mayweather fighting DLH. I am not saying that Cotto will absolutely beat PBF, but I am saying that Floyd has NEVER faced a fighter with the hunger, youth, talent, strength, and will of Cotto. One can make a very strong argument that Mosely is much more credible fighter at this point in his career than DLH, but that is a different conversation.

Obviously Cotto is the MOST credible opponent at 147 that Mayweather could face, problem is, Mayweather doesn't want to be "retired by boxing". Floyd's a throwback fighter. He can win whatever the situation. If Cotto want to pressure Floyd can beat him inside. Floyd would tear him apart from the outside.
