ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about boxing knows that ANY top 10 pro boxer makes him look like a slug, and KO's him in short order.
Its 2 different sports.
Yep it is two different sports Boxing is one type of fighting whilst mma is all types of fighting there are so many way`s to win or lose these top ufc guy`s really are elite athletes and unlike boxing most of the matches are very competitive, unlike a lot of the boxing matches where they put the better fighters in against no hopers how fans can go and spend there money watching these types of match ups baffle me.
i wouldn't badmouth a sport when i clearly can see you are naive about it. i don't think you understand how difficult it is to learn jiu jitsu effectively and train in wrestling, boxing, muay thai, and jits. i started doing jiu jitsu about 3-4 years ago and actually stopped training in mma because i thought training for boxing was easier. both sports are awesome, i'm better in boxing, but to be honest, watching mma is a little more exciting to me at times, especially heavyweights.
yes, it's a sport that's only 15 years old, but in that 15 years you have to admit it has grown immensely from the "bar-room" brawling that is USED to be and which you think it still is. if you have no experience in mma you can't really judge it now can you?
I probably can't and maybe it's prejudice. The little I have seen makes leaves me in disgust. Perhaps I just haven't seen enough, but with the lack of history and the 'roid-pumped monsters I havent the deepest desire to watch more.
I didn't mean to offend anybody it was really just my humble opinion from the heart.
 Who gives a rats ass what these bar-room brawlers think they can. It's only popular because of the nasty brutality. There ain't no finesse, skill or history to that 'sport' IMO.
Have a nice day.

When was the last time we saw boxing on ABC, NBC, or CBS? :ugh:
During the Contender, which was moderately successful.
But as far as real Boxing goes, it's on ESPN every Friday night, sometimes we got ESPN Wednesday night fights. I see a lot on Fox Sports Net, the VS network and so on.
I see what you're saying though, UFC has done great with their promoting
Apples & Oranges fellas.
And don't get it twisted, Silva hits hard. But his precision & combos are 2nd to none in the MMA world.
It's kinda pointless though for him to box. A top ten boxer should beat Anderson Silva as he'd destroy any boxer in a MMA match.
As far as both Boxing and MMA co-existing...they can, but I gotta give UFC an advantage being they're setting up better PPVs with fights people wanna see which Boxing has had a tough time doing for quite some time now (meaning the overall card). Not only that, but Elite XC (Showtime's MMA Federation) just signed a deal with CBS to begin airing their shows soon.
When was the last time we saw boxing on ABC, NBC, or CBS? :ugh:
I'd like to see more Boxing PPVs with double main events. Make the $50 worth while.
idiot

Silva didn't hit hard Hende w/ his punches but w/ his knee. But comparing his punches w/ boxing middle weight pros is lame. hes only better w/ his knees. i had it henderson the first round.
Yup, you are right. It's easier to survive for a longer amount of time in boxing.
But that doesn't matter, as you're not supposed to survive, you're supposed to win.
I'll give any top level boxer a bigger chance of winning against an mma dude than a top mma dude winning a boxing match.
That's just it. If you are are world calss MMA guy fighting an elite boxer it's almost guranteed you will lose. A boxer in MMA is almost guranteed as well, but he does have that punch that could give him the chance.
It istresting quote from Fitch but who know's if he hits harder than pro boxers. Anderson Silva in his sport is the best right now and the way he picks his punches is truly awesome.
And I didn't mean to take anything away from Anderson by making this thread. I think he is super talented and has great instincts as a fighter. Definately one of the most exciting guys out there. Too bad the middleweight division sucks though. Hopefully they can find him some meaningful fights.
yeah i loaaaathhhee dana white. he knocks on bob arum and don king but he and zuffa are the ones pocketing all the fucking money they make from ppvs. they're averaging about 500,000 on ppvs and main eventers aren't even making a million dollars, it's ridiculous. i'm glad randy couture left. mark cuban please change this for mma.
on a side note, mma and boxing are making eachothers sports better. i think combat sports in general are at an all-time high. with de la hoya-mayweather doin 2.4 mill and hatton-may doin 900,000 and most ufc cards doing over 500,000, everyone is getting exposed to fighting, i think it's great. long-live both boxing and mma.
Anderson Silva doesnt even hit that 'hard', he just has very good precision with his shots and with tiny gloves thats what matters most. you dont need a ton of power to KO people with tiny gloves.

I see it as another knock on boxing by a mixed martial artist. It's like they can't just compete in their own sport without bashing others. I was watching it last night and Joe Rogan said "the most boring moment in the UFC is better than the most exciting moment in baseball."
It's like some of these mma dudes can't exist without comparing themselves to others. A lot of the mma fan/fighter attitudes turns me off. But there are a ton of fighters in MMA I like who seem like cool sh*t. that is true. Dana White is worse than anyone with that.
dude, i don't think you've seen anderson silva fight. he's one of the best athletes i've ever seen in any sport, and the "i cant wait till a ufc fighter fights a pro boxer" is this in an mma match or a boxing match because its very simple, in a real fight the mma fighter wins and in a boxing match, a boxer wins, you can't compare. one thing is for sure though, a boxer prob won't last a minute with a world class mma fighter in his sport, but an mma fighter can probably last a round or two with a world class boxer in a boxing match. i've done both sports for a few years.
