I cant say anything bad about Rafa Marquez. Im a bigger fan of Israel, but have always been a fan of Rafa as well. He is an incredible fighter with immense talent and ability. This trilogy has definitely raised his stock in my opinion and is still one to beat in the division.
He proved he was the more skilled fighter, but Vasquez being the naturally bigger and stronger fighter made all the difference in the world. His shaky chin combined with Izzy's power didnt help either.
rafael was a very poor loser.. only thing that made him look bad in my eye
He's human. That was as close of a fight as you can have.
War Vazquez and Marquez! :)
Congratulations on that tremendous victory Frank. It must be doubly rewarding to be part of an all time great fight and win it too.
i personally cant hold that against him seeing how he gave himself to the trilogy and more than likely shortened his career by a few fights. its hard to accept a loss when you think you've won, especially a fight that would be career defining or as important as that one.
I think it was more frustration/denial about the loss.. the guy watched the replay of him getting knocked into the ropes having to hold himself up.. and all he could say is "I didnt go down, thats not a knock down" 4 low blows later the ref felt no choice but to take a point.. Its hard ot take a loss when someone legitemetly beats you.. especially when you give it your all.. but vazquez dug deep and had more in the tank.. truly deserved the victory.. what a 12th round..
I was pulling for Vazquez because I always liked him and his finish was classic stuff.
But one point, can't get much closer than that.
Marquez is an outstanding boxer and fun to watch. Have to give him a lot of credit.
how does the crybaby get all the respect? hell no the way he acted after the fight in denial about the KD he has lost it all IMO give Izzy his props stop being a sore loser then you get the respect anything short you can fuck yourself.
reminds me of morales barrera
ya morales lost the trilogy
but to me
hes clearly the better fighter
more accomplished
beat better opposition
just got sucked into traden with the other guy instead of boxen
theyd rather trade and ended up on the bad side of the wins
and like moresl mab
the last fight which was to settle it
very contraversial
His stock has without a doubt risen after this trilogy, no shame in losing the way he did against Vazquez, I'll be interested to see what he does in the future.

rafa
look you cant take any thing away from rafa he's a very tough and talented fighter with many skills and up until tonight I thought he was better than vasquez but what a performance from vasquez what a twelfth round man with all the tanacity and guts of a true champion he took the fight to marquez and marquez had no answer as vasquez steem rolled him what a performance by vasquez a true champion:boxing:
I thought and still think rafael won the fight . That being said, Vasquez is not in a good position as he was tested and beaten in my opinion by a 118 fighter twice. He has heart to the max but is outboxed too much in my opinion. Vasquez is in the position of being one of the most exciting fighters to watch but also one of the most vulnerable fighters among the best in the world.
I've been a fan of his for awhile and it sucks to see him lose, but there is no shame in losing to Israel Vasquez. I know Rafa was pretty upset after the fight, but I mean when you put everything on the line you can't blame him for being mad in that moment. I hope he gets some big paydays after this trilogy as well because he's deserved it.
