It was a split decision which is annoying to every boxing fan but who do you think won that fight?
Well i think vasquez won it but he lost the early rounds but i think he lost them rounds because he was worried about cuts so he didnt let his hands go til the later rounds so he wouldnet be stopped.
I had it almost even with marquez winning intil round 9 where vasquez was just landing more and hurting him.
I think marquez more or less gave it everything he had in the earlier rounds and didnt save enough for later rounds.
I was right in my thinking that vasquez would be a slow starter tonight because he cuts so easy and gets hit so often.
But as you saw later rounds marquez slowed down maybe it could of been him punching himself out to much earlier rounds but his work rate went down, he was missing more and getin hit alot more.
Very lucky for marquez it didnt get stopped to any other ref would of stopped that fight and if the ref didnt jump in marquez would of got hit more and it would of been stopped.
The last round won the fight or else we could of very well of seen a draw or a sd for marquez.
What made vasquez win? power, stamina, determination and will but im not saying marquez didnt have all those but vasquez kinda took them stats away from marquez with his punishing power.
Marquez was afraid to let his hands go because he was rocked so many times he stepped of vasquez a few times where he could of knocked him down but a the same time he could of got rocked to so i think vasquez took his confidence away.
Great fight overall nice end to a trilogy a must to go down in boxing history as one of the best rivals of all time.
Better then gatti - ward imo and what does everyone else think won?
I thought Vasquez also won, but if i felt for Marquez. He left everything he had in that ring..
BTW.. I think Marquez brother interpreting the interview was CLASSIC! I like Jim Grey's interviews much better than Merchants.. plus we got a bonus with Marquez brother shouting with the answers and answering the questions without Rafael's input lol!
Marquez 114
Vazquez 111
Pat Russell cost Marquez the fight, with the phantom low blow.
vazquez earned the victory without the low blow deduction if ya ask me..
The champ came forward all night even after being dropped, made it his fight after the 5th or 6th two 10-8 rounds in favor of the champ its not that hard to figure out who won the fight.
Vazquez did look a bit off to me tonight but that was because Marquez did some serious home work, from the start that right hand was my only concern look at what Larios was able to do to Vazquez in there second fight with that right hand, either way it did wake up Izzy and he came back to win a fourth fight is out of the question IMO, a cry baby like Marquez does not deserve it period

he was warned more then 3 times.. he should have gotten a point deducted on the third.
that was the fourth...
anyway I had it a draw.
I had Vazquez winning, the low blow and knock down really cost Marquez the fight, he had a great start but started fading by the 9th.
that's what I was gonna say
I had it a draw with the point being taken away. But that was total bullshit, so I would have Marquez winning by a point without that. Every time he warned him the punch hit the belt. Such bullshit. But it sucks that either guy had to lose this fight. It had me yelling at the tv from the first round on!!! Great fight. It reminds me of why I love boxing.
I thought Vazquez won. People can say the low blow cost Marquez the fight, but I look at it like the 12th round WON Vazquez the fight. I had Vazquez winning by 2 points anyway. That was a great fight tho. I think Vazquez deserved the win.
And that's totally feasible.
I mean the 10-8 round and the way he won many of the early rounds could have given him a boost on the cards........depending on how many rounds you gave to him. Either way I could see people just as easily giving rounds to Marquez.
Both guys fought an excellent fight. Maybe it should have been a draw.
I thought marquez won based on too many early rds in the bag.
As I've already stated, my final score read 114-112 for Marquez, but...

I thought Vasquez won the razor thin decision.
I didn't actually score the fight on paper..........I'll have to go back and do that. It's difficult because of the swing rounds and ones where Marquez would come on strong at the end with the flurries.
For the most part in the second half of the fight Vasquez pressured Marquez, closed the gap and appeared to be the busier fighter with the combinations on the inside. In the first half........it was clear that Marquez was the one putting in the work and was winning the fight in the center of the ring.
The overall key to the fight was Vasquez's ability to land the right hand at will.......and easily bully Marquez around on the inside when he let his hands go.
Anyways he impressed me more than ever tonight. But I do keep in mind that he was fighting the naturally smaller guy.

I would be surprised if more than a small minority thought Marquez won, but I suppose these boards have had some oddballs after fights. Look no further back than Taylor/Pavlik II to see that much.
I guess I'm an oddball. I had Marquez up by 5pts after the 5th. The middle rds were split and vasquez closed it out like a champ. vasquez came up short in my opinion but congrats on both fighters for what they have done for all of us boxing fans. Who said MMA is better than Boxing!
