Is Israel Vasquez the most exciting fighter in boxing?

He goes down, he gets up. He gets cut, bleeds, but still fights. He's a high action little guy who scores big knockouts. Look at his 2 blitzings of Oscar Larios. He went out there and gave him the business in short order. Even in the 2nd fight when he was stopped he lit up the crowd with a high intensity war. Then he climbs off the canvas twice against Jhonny Gonzalez in a fight he was losing bad and knocks him out. Many felt that fight could have been the best of 2006. Most recently, his trilogy with Rafael Marquez, which has produced the two best fights in recent memory. As Steve Kim put is, "13 Rounds of Fury". Vasquez has all of the elements that make a great action fighter. Is he the most exciting fighter in boxing? What impressed me the most was how he came out in the 12th. Such heart, determination and bravery.

Well.........yeah Vasquez is exciting in a workman's sense. Yep. I think Arce's showmanship, fight style and character make him exciting..........as I do Bell's style and ring theatrics. Both guys natural entertainers for sure. I like Bell as well, but it just sucks that he fights only one time a year.

Vasquez is a WARRIOR. At the highest level. He fights on high octane all the way and never lets up. I was particularly impressed tonight by the fact that he never got discouraged dispite the early lead Marquez picked up. He kept to his gameplan to stay on the inside and then bombed with the right hand when he saw Marquez's eye closing. He's intelligent, resilient, and has lots of power. Hard for any fighter to deal with. And to answer your question, I'm not sure he's the most exciting in boxing because I can't get excited solely watching 1 fighter, but he's among the most exciting fighters in boxing today.

He certainly figures into the discussion, but don't forget about Dr. Steelhammer. Vazquez deserves an honorable mention though.

I thought the first and third Vasquez-Larios fights were the blowouts. All three fights were rewatchable though. Marquez's chin and dominance didn't really carry over to 122 pounds where he was perhaps the best bantamweight since Jeff Fenech. Arce is exciting, but he's only had one real war that I can recall in the first Hussein fight. If fights with Martin Castillo, Darchinyan, and Montiel would have materialized, his stock would've raised further. Bell has had some exciting moments, but he lacks the speed to take your breath away. Well.........yeah Vasquez is exciting in a workman's sense. Yep. I think he's an exciting fighter yes, but I also think Marquez is to some extent tailor made for him. He is accustomed to fighting the bigger guys and he's shown throughout the 3 fights that he can just dominate on the inside when he lets his hands go. He has a lot of heart and he's a durable guy..........yes. His first fight with Larios was entertaining, he blew him out in the second though. I'm not sure about "Most" exciting. I would have to say at this point he probably is. It seem like everyone of his fight's he's either cut or been KD and then somehow he rises above all that and wins. Katsidis fights are pretty exciting too, but Vasquez is more accurate and just a better all around boxer. I hope he gets paid big time in his next few fights. If there is one guy in boxing that deserves million dollar paydays it's Israel Vasquez.

Props dude Valero, for me, is sweet. Calderon is awesome, I won't budge on that one... Naito is a warrior. Ponce de Leon, as you correctly stated, is good when he's good...namely early on when he's banging folk out. If you want exciting fighters other than the above, look at Ricardo Mayorga or Tony Margarito. Also look at Arturo Gatti, he raised a few roofs. Look also at Floyd Mayweather, much as you all say he's boring, he ain't. Ricardo Mayorga and Antonio Margarito lack the accuracy in their punches to really get me moving. Gatti is retired. Answer me this, could any of the guys you mentioned do what Vasquez did tonight?

none of those guys are particularly awsome to watch. Valero has had 1 good fight and about 30 million mismatches. Calderon is beautiful to watch but he isnt thriling to watch or anything. No chance Look at Ivan Calderon, Edwin Valero, Daisuke Naito or Daniel Ponce de Leon...on his good days... none of those guys are particularly awsome to watch. Absolutely. he is definetly up there with the most exciting fighters in the world today, if not THE most exciting. Never seen a bad Vazquez fight ever my words exactly........................... i would say vazquez is one of, if not THE most exciting fighter in boxing today or in recent history..................... i'm a diehard fan of his, i think he's a special kind of fighter, a nose to the grind stone fighter who is highly skilled and has great instinct.

Juan Diaz is the most exciting. Just watch next weekend guys Are you saying that Juan Diaz, who has never been in a FOTY candidate or scored an exciting knockout, is more exciting than Israel Vasquez? I'm all for opinions, but come on. Diaz lacks the punching power to create the kind of drama that Vasquez puts on. He also hasn't faced anywhere approaching the quality of opposition Vasquez has been in with. I don't see the drama in a Juan Diaz fight.
