So, I periodically check out boxrec.com to get a better history and knowledge of some fighters careers, and I was on Gatti's page this morning and it says he has a fight coming up on March 22nd??
It says he is fighting March 22, 2008 at the PAL Center in Hockessin, Delaware against an unnamed opponent in a 3-rounder??
Does anyone know what this is? I know boxrec occasionally makes mistakes but they wouldnt post something like this without some sort of knowledge.
Sorry man, but it pisses me off that their management allows them to do this. It makes you wonder who's really behind these comeback decisiones. There is no way Gatti will ever be a champion again. Not even for an unsignifical belt.
It's probably not that he wants to be champion if it's only a 3 rounder. Like someone said, he probably wants to end his career with a win.
When I forwarded this info to a long-time friend of Gatti's, their first reaction was that they thought he had blown his money on drugs.
This is hearsay and as a proffessional you should not say stuff like this without concrete facts...
You should know better dude
he sounds punchy for the past few years. 3 rounds shouldn't be considered a comeback though. It would be funny if he got knocked out in a 3 round fight. Maybe that will convince him
Damn, thats a shame if true. I always figured he would open a gym and maybe train fighters when he retired.
I heard back in the Damgard? fight that he had a lot of investments in real estate in Montreal and it looked big. Don't know hwat happened to it.
He's always had a problem with partying
Well I love Gatti &I'd hate to see the man hurt anymore....but it's his choice, he's been a fighter all his life, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone, it gets done over &over again, we should just except it. Old fighters come back, people pay to see, as people will do for "Thunder" Gatti.

I cant figure this out?
He must have plenty of money to retire with?

well i hope he could see how the G-MAN is doing and he will tell u another story.
gatti needs tostop being a punching bag boxing is a very dangerous sport and throughout his career u could see how his eyed has changed is bad man.
It's just an exhibition. Same as Gatti fighting a few bums in Pro's and Joe's.
Earnie Shavers had an exhibition boxing match recently and he is 60 years old. It's nothing serious.
Now if he was fighting a world class opponent then it would be different.
i do agree he should hang them up.. i just didnt like the fact you said you hope he gets sent into 'a coma'
i do agree that his management and friends shouldnt support the decision. i know his gf doesnt.. like some1 said, i think he wants to go out with a win and thats all
No point in Arturo fighting again, he gets his ass beat by the top WW's and got his ass dominated by a journeyman. He can't make 140 anymore so just give it up.

I agree. He looked completely shot against Gomez. There should be a law in situations like this that the atheltic comissions prevent old fighters from trying to do this. I've always enjoyed watching Arturo, but he should have went out with the Gomez fight. He could get seriously hurt or take long term damage.
even if he ends up like peret? cmon man one thing is to make a desicion another thing is to make a life threatening desicion. It's his choice I agree, but as a friend, manager trainer and his family, he should be convinced that its never going to happen again. That ship has sailed
...probably not
But he can still try. and ultimately its his life and his decision, and when someone has given as much to the sport as Gatti has, I will support whatever decision he makes.
