If JT doesn't act quickly RJ's moving on!
Editor: Things have cooled off a bit regarding the Jermain Taylor, what's the deal Jones?
Roy Jones Jr: "What's happening is, Don King is playing some sort of game where he's talking to the Jermain Taylor people about Tito Trinidad instead of Roy Jones Jr. Kelly Pavlik said he'd fight Tito, I'd say cool give me Jermain. Now Pavlik changed his mind and for some strange reason it seems like don't nobody want to fight Roy. I might have to go on back to commentating if this keeps up. I might have to go back to commentating and just leave it alone. Now that I'm back and I'm having a good time, they know they can't beat me."
Editor: Perhaps their logic is that Jermain and Tito fighting first would only make a PPV fight between you and Taylor bigger.
Roy Jones Jr: "Yeah, but what about when Hopkins-Calzaghe is done? I'm going to be looking at that. I'm not going to want to be hearing about Jermain or Tito. Jermain is just something to do to hold me down. If he doesn't want to do it right now I'm not interested."
Editor: So if JT and his people want to make a fight the time is now because pretty soon there will be bigger options out there, correct?
RJJ: "There you go. And I'm not fitting to waste my time with a Jermain Taylor when I'm going to have a Joe Calzaghe or Bernard Hopkins I can whoop on. The winner of that Showtime situation would be bigger also, so if Jermain wants to do it now, cool. Otherwise forget about it. They can't come up with more money, both of them just got beat and they're going to sit there and try to say that Jermain and Trinidad is bigger than Jermain and Roy Jones Jr."
Editor: When will you start looking in another direction?
RJJ: "I'm already looking in another direction. I heard about this the other day and I already told Fred Levin and we're looking in other directions. They still got time to step up, but not much."
Editor: Will you look take a stay busy fight with a Muriqi now?
RJJ: "Something like that or Danny Green. If Danny Green wants to fight me for a light heavyweight title, I'm down right now."
Editor: Would it have to take place in America?
RJJ: "Not really. I don't care where I fight, I'm interested in who and when for how much. Not interested in where. I'll be where the best offer is. I want the title. I don't care where it's at."
Editor: How do you feel about the discussions Don is having with the Taylor people? Do you think it's Don wanting to make Trinidad-Taylor more or the other side preferring Trinidad over you?
RJJ: "They want to get both of them an easier fight so one of them will win, but I don't want it that way, you feel me. If Jermain wants to do something now, cool. Otherwise, who needs him?"
Editor: Closing thoughts?
RJJ: "I love the game. I love boxing. I was not only the best boxer, I was the best commentator too. When you can do two things at once, you have options. Right now these guys need me, I don't need them. I asked for Jermain Taylor, they acted like they wanted to do something and now they don't. We'll see if these guys want to make fights or keep running from me."
just watch what happens if he fights taylor...
Taylor knocks Roy out is what going to happen (in my opinion). Taylor has improved his defense and is more technically polished as ever. Roy lays on the ropes and only fights in spurts and Jermain is too strong (stronger than Roy) and his stamina and too good not take advantage of that. Jermain's punch output, power, and aggression wins the fight. That is all Tarver did in their fights. He simply out worked Roy and didn't let him off the hook when he would get lazy. Taylor is better and had more in his arsenal than any version of the one dimensional Tarver.
Roy looked good against Trinidad ok, but he was even further down the hill than Roy is. We should not be fooled by that fight. Trinidad was out for a year, had been out boxed badly in his last fight, blown up in weight and didn't have any power up there as well. Jermain is a guy thats naturally bigger than Roy, which is why Roy trying to have advantages by making Jermain move up to light heavyweight will not make a difference. Not only that but Jermain is also in the peak of his prime. I see Roy being overwhelmed here. If Roy's les than average chin and stamina holds up, maybe he could do something special but the odds are just too stacked against him.
Taylor boxes, picks his spots, attacks Roy on the ropes, and stops a beaten and over confident Jones Jr. in the 9th.
Its just messed up when a great fighter is fighting past their prime. Roy matching well against any of these top young guns is something that i don't see happening. He does not have the same stamina or reflexes, which would could cost him if he decides to fight the likes of Taylor, Dawson Pavlik ect. Imagine what would happen if he was to lay on the ropes against these fighters?
I like Roy and always will, but there comes a point in time when its time for a legend to hang em up.

How in the world did Green end up with a belt? Roy would take care of him by early KO. I like Roy fighting Green or Muriqi, I know its just gonna make people talk even more trash if he fights them but theres nobody else to fight right now but Jermain. Obviously the "showtime situation" he was talking about is the April 12th card with Tarver Woods, Dawson Johsnon. So all ya'll saying he should "fight Johsnon" or "fight Tarver" need to remember they both have fights coming up and Roy IS looking at them both. I heard him say on ESPN after the Trinidad fight that Johnson was the "most important move" of his comeback. So I think its a great sign he wants a stay busy fight and I hope he gets one. Then after that its time for winner of Calzaghe Hopkins or the return fights with Johnson and Tarver!
i agree with you. there will be haters on here sayin that roy took another easy fight etc etc. but a title is a title. he gets a title and possibly the money flows in for another johnson fight or tarver fight or the winner of hops and calz. a title just makes the money come in for roy. but either way the next fight roy has people are going to talk shit unless its against taylor or a good LHW champ.

Roy does not have to push for this fight too hard because Jermain will definatley take it. Its a good comeback fight for Taylor to redeem himself after his losses to Pavlik and get back on track.

i really dont see a taylor fight happening. dont think the taylor camp will take a big risk like that and end up losing 3 fights in a row which will really hurt taylors career IMO.
He needs to forget about Jermain... take less money and fight danny... get the belt... THEN make more on your next fight
4 sure man. he needs to keep active, get the belt to get another big fight or 2, and than get out!
roy would imo beat green, and he should make the fight if taylor is doing something else, and as stated earlier he could set up the long awaited rematch of bhop, or fight calz! either way is good!
Roy is desperate. He misses the days where people were calling him out from left and right trying to dethrone him from his P4P spot.
It's over now....he got knocked out twice and didn't even bother showing up for the third fight with Tarver, which was an important fight for his legacy winning a triology.
Now he is on a 3 fight win streak and acts like a tough guy like somebody is duckin' him please. Go fight Glen Johnson, he would accept a fight with you anytime. But nah Roy don't want none.
I hope the Calzaghe/Hopkins doesn't show any interest for Roy, lets see what he does then.
It was the guy fighting like Roy Jones (Mundine) beating Danny Green up.
Roy could definitely beat Green unless he has improved by a whole lot which I do not think he has.
well then he should take it!!!
