I was wondering who everyone thinks fit the bill on this?
For me Im thinking Bernard Hopkins peaked when he beat Tito..but has accomplished a-lot....so maybe Bernard.
The only time I ever really see Rosenbloom mentioned is when people talk about the most feather-fisted boxers of all time. 221 wins, 19 KO's.
His last fight was claimed to be a 'fix' because he won by KO.
Other than that, yes he is pretty much forgotten.
Many of the boxers he fought are more remembered (Tiger Flowers, Ted Lewis, Mickey Walker, Jim Braddock, Lou Nova).
I think I mentioned Slapsie on a "greatest resumes of all time" thread.

I think Rosenbloom is a very special one, because he was never really appreciated anywhere.
Some of those mentioned, like Jofre, were heros in their own time/country.
Well honestly Rocky Marciano gets no recognition as a Top 5 alltime HW in most rankings....and deservedly so IMO but nonetheless did retire as the undeafeted HW champion....and did beat some fighters that are ranked higher on the ATG list than him.....but they were all past their prime.
On a side note.....I find Calzaghe and Hopkins title defense records more astonishing than someone like Floyd being undefeated.....because most of the time....Not all but most of the time even tho he was moving up in weight his opponents were carefully picked. Calzaghe and Hopkins on the other hand dominated a single weight class, more often than not fighting the best the division had to offer for 10+ years......now thats is impressive. I know some will say the divisions were weak or whatever but did anyone really think fighters like Sosa, Ndou, Corley,Brusseles, mitchell or Baldomir really had a shot?
Calzaghe and Hopkins share the record for PAPER defenses.
Mayweather has more lineal/ring title wins than those two combined.
If Mayweather "picks". so does Hopkins, but he is much worse, since he "picks" smaller fighters.
i suppose you could say Dariusz Michalczewski accomplished a lot. he even unified the light heavyweight titles at one point. never fought out of germany though and havent seen even one of his fights and hes not generaly talked about much.
Good point, and I actually forgot about him.

Harry Wills, Charley Burley, Wilfred Benitez, Nicolino Locche, Duilio Loi, Ezzard Charles, etc.
Not that they are completely forgotten but some of the achievements they had were unbelievable.
Benitez won a world title from a HOFer as a 17 year old, Wills was one of the top HW's in his era avoided by many, Burley was an amazing boxer, Locche was almost untouchable, Loi beat everyone he ever faced, Charles was a great MW, LHW and a HW...
Many boxers are not known very well these days.
Plenty of old time fighters. Peter Jackson (no not the LOTR director), Tommy Ryan, Slapsie Rosenbloom, Barbados Joe Walcott, Nonpareil Jack Dempsey, etc...
Johnny Tapia. He was always a favorite of mine, but you never hear much about him.
i was thinking of him, his achievements are slightly overlooked by his antics outside of the ring.
