Even before they mentioned it on the air, I noticed that those two really do fight a lot the same. Very jab dependent, very good defensively. Their chin is the only thing that has gotten them in trouble, etc.
Can anyone tell me?
Granted, I haven't seen more than five fights of each, but so far, the blueprint of how they fight is pretty similar in my eyes.
I was at the fight last night, a little dissapointed there was no knockout but satisfied with the win. As for Wlad being similar to Lewis, that is partially true in that they both had the same trainer, but for Lewis to claim he is more athletic then Wlad is ridiculious. Wlads natural boxing ability is in a class of its own, every punch in his arsenal was better the Lewises with the exception of the uppercut. The only thing I agree with is that Lewis was more relaxed in the ring, Wlad needs to learn how to relax.
Lennox had a much better chin than Wlad, that's for sure, and wasn't so cautious.
Lennox also can a far more diverse arsenal os punches he used regularly. With Wlad it's the jab, the straight right hand and eventually a left hook.
Stewart is trying to develop Lennox's skills into Wlad, you already can see a lot of similarities.
lol, not if the conan O'Brian chat is anything to go by.
Wlad has an accent, but he is fluent and precise.
This is a joke, of course, you can't compare someone speaking his fourth language to an inarticulate native speaker. It's apples and oranges
Lewis was more fluent and had a better chin, but at the same time he had more lapses than current Wlad does in the ring. He was a better fighter than Wlad overall, but one thing he wasnt is more exciting. He was often criticized for putting on identical performances to what Wlad has been putting on of late.
They're very similar. And Lennox had many nights like last night. Lewis-Tua anyone? Same things were being said after that fight as are being said now about Wlad. Sultan is a southpaw, little awkward, little dangerous, and it was a unification. Wlad chose to win and not take any chances, and I don't really blame him. I'm quite sure you'll see some HW's lying flat from his punches in the future. Every fighter has a fight where they just aren't feeling the big punches flow, for one reason or another.
Lewis threw more right hands and was more adventurous in the first minute of the Tua fight than Wlad was in 12 rounds last night!
Wlad is more tense and more tactical/even nervous looking sometimes, though it seems to be getting better and varies from fight to fight.
Watch the Williamson fight - dude looked like a jittery mess - and he ended up getting KD'd as a result
Lewis was artistic not robotic, Lewis had attitude and swagger and didnt shuffle forward in a hesitant tentative manner, he had rhythm and would mix up his style, he would jab then set a trap and step in with the uppercut, he would take risks and would just have a more relaxed demeaner, he wasnt a one trick pony. He was a pugilist specialist with an arsenal filled with punches that he could throw at any given moment lol. If he got hurt he would let it all hang out and go toe to toe. He showed heart and desire.
More than that, he could dance!
Also a great post. Damn, I'm impressed! Two great posts- in the same thread!
Imagine that
I don't think Lewis knocked out Bruno with a left hook, that was the punch that set up the finish but if i remember right he never KO Bruno with a left hook. And even that hook was more desperation because he was in trouble in the corner at that time when Bruno staggered him with a jab, right hand, combination if i remember right. But like i said i could be wrong because i haven't seen the fight in ages.
As for Wlad and Lewis comparison it certainly is there, but Lewis did have a stronger chin, he was hit by some flush punches and took them fine, i hate to say this but anytime Wlad gets hit flush he seems to be badly shaken up. He has a big heart though, but i think he has some confidence problems plus he is a bit too robotic for my liking just like his brother.
Great post, I'd karma you if I could.
Shut your fucking mouth you pathetic drunk Irish cocksucker.
That was actually a post with some deeper meaning, even though he failed to elaborate the statement.
Lewis knew how to fight. Infight, outside, angles, movement, forward, backward- you name it, Lewis could do it.
I want you, or anyone else, to prove to me that Wlad knows how to infight.
Wlad obviously has a better, stronger jab, but that's pretty much it.

Lewis was not as cautious against Tua as Wlad was against Sultan, not even close. Lewis threw much more punches and more different punches as well.
And besides that Tua is known for his iron chin while Sultan is hurtable.
As Lewis said on the air, he was more athletic and fluid than Wlad, he relaxed much more in the ring, Wlad can get robotic at times, Lewis also had a great uppercut and stepped in with the left hook more.
Yes he was more fluid, Wlad is robotic and more one-dimensional than Lewis.
He could throw every punch well.
