But then there's a lot of others like DiegoFuego, Gunstar, !! SiN, Dios, Brother Blues, Sonofisis who discredit and bash white fighters at every opportunity.
Wlad Owns may root for his fellow Eastern European fighters, but he doesn't hate on black fighters the way DiegoFuego and the others hate on all the white ones.
A racist is someone who hates people of a certain race. Someone who roots for white boxers is not a racist, but if that person hated black fighters than he would be a racist.
We all have a little bias because we want to see our own do well, especially in boxing where the Nationalistic pride is big.
But people that will only cheer for a "White" fighter or a "Black" fighter or a "Brown" you know the drill, one thing is being nationalistic and another reason is being a bigot.
I think people are more turned off by the heavyweights, not because they aren't black americans. But because people don't know who these guys are, plus some of the fights have been boring, but Wlad is an exciting fighter and has been getting alot of press. I hope he can take over the division and bring some excitment to the big men.
One guy pretends to be from Finland, but his bitterness toward the division gives him away: he's an American boxing fan who grew up watching Tyson and Holyfield, or a Brit who grew up watching Lewis, and so loves Black fighters and can't stand European boxers.
I'm not bitter towards the division, just realistic about it. Or are you saying the heavyweight fights have been action-packed lately? Such classics like Chagaev vs Skelton, Valuev vs Lyakhovich, Ibragimov vs Holyfield and so on...
I'm from Finland, therefore neutral towards the nationality of the fighters and I still see that the HW division is not what it used to be.
Or it is what it used to be, in the early 80's, when most of the heavyweights were American and black and the people still said that the heavyweight division sucked...because it did.
The heavyweight division is getting better now but I'm talking about how it has been generally in the past few years, remember the times when Briggs, Rahman, Byrd and Ruiz were champions?
Because lots of people certainly do and it will take a long time until those memories are erased.
I'm an American too, but I've enjoyed the heavyweight fights of recent years, such as Maskaev vs. Rahman II and Lyakhovich vs. Brewster. There hasn't been as exciting of a power puncher as Wlad in the division since the 70s young George Foreman.
The problem is there are no Frazier's, Lyle's or Norton's for Wladimir to beat on. If Ibragimov, Chagaev and Peter step up and start performing then yes, he will have some challenge but that remains to be seen.
I'm not impressed by the victories over journeyman Ray Austin, Calvin Brock and inactive Brewster (Brewster win was decent though because he avenged a loss).
I thought the 90s heavyweights such as Lennox Lewis and Riddick Bowe were dull to watch, while Povetkin, Chagaev, Wlad and Ibragimov are much better!
Bowe was dull to watch? What about his fights with Golota and Holyfield?
Lewis was dull at times but not as dull as people say he is. His fight with Vitali was great.
The biggest problem with the heavyweight division is all the negativity toward it because the titleholders are not American and black.

To each their own - but I'm really sick and tired of people bashing the heavyweight division.
I was at Maskaev vs Rahman 2, I really enjoyed the fight and was glad Oleg could pull it off.
I think your barking up the wrong tree with "The Machine" he's not a baised bitter hater.
If anything people like WLad_Owns turns people off because you can tell they mostly always pull for the "White" fighter.
The middleweight division really has no one and Pavlik is wasting his time with those titles. All the action is at super middleweight now and Pavlik himself says he has to boil down to make weight. I would just dust John Duddy and move to supermiddleweight. Joe Calzaghe even said he'd come back just to fight Pavlik
I would say right now I love the super middle weight division and of course I love Pavlik and I wish the middle weight division would be deeper...But I grew up on the Heavyweight division w/ Tyson, Holyfield, Foreman, Lewis etc...I loved it when those guys fought...
The truth is there is nothing better in sports than a great heavyweight fight. That doesn't mean that there will be one anytime soon.
Tell me about it.
Aleast I know Tye Fields will be giving the fans their money's worth cleaning out the division.
I think the heavyweights have always been more boring, sure every once in a while you get a really great fight. But for the most part the fights aren't that greatl, more intriguing because of the ramifications then exciting.
But its always fun to see the biggest human's fighting for the biggest prize.

Agreed with this. I don't really care about the shape but some 'heavyweights' have put on 20-30 lbs just so they could be in the heavyweight division.
They aren't in shape to go 12 rounds so they just clinch and stall for the last few rounds.

The truth is I don't put to much into the guys body, as long as they are in shape.
Some people just don't get cut.

Chagaev vs Skelton
Valuev working a heavy bag named Sergei Lyakhovich
Holyfield vs Ibragimov
Wlad vs journeyman Ray Austin (okay it ended in a KO but what in the world was Austin doing in there with a world class heavyweight?)
