But anyone who has watched Joe more than a little know that he love fighting in the clinches. He's pretty dirty too. Nard has no advantage there in my opinion.
i give bhop the advantage on this cause he knows how to make it look like the other guy is doing the holding so he can continue to hit
You sod i spilt my drink.
I was reading this post until you said Calzaghe had bad footwork!
WTF have you been watching?
he also said he wings his shots and sited in-fighting as a negative for Joey Cal.

Calzaghe gets caught occassionally by long straight right hands, or at least he used to. He did a good job against Kessler and straight right hands are pretty much his bread and butter. Hops might be able to catch him more.......but thats the only reason he wins. He has to catch him.....alot.
I stopped reading it right after he said Hopkins is too complete for Calzaghe's 'amateurish, European style'.
I wonder if he has ever even seen Calzaghe fight, Joe fights nothing like most robotic Europeans.
Hopkins by UD.
Too complete for Calzaghe's amateurish, European style.
the straight right hands down the pike while Calzaghe wings, and the short, accurate hooks and uppers to counter will cause Calzaghe fits.
Calzaghe's footwork and balance/stance are bad. That, coupled with Hopkins' superior movement/footwork/ring generalship will give Calzaghe a look he has never ever seen before. Bernard will clinch/maul and get rough when he needs to, and his in-fighting skills are superior to Joe Cal's.
Furthermore, Bernard's defense is not only better than Joe's, but it's a defenseive look the likes of which Joe has never faced.
Bernard has the uncanny ability to take your best weapons away from you.
Work rate is Joe's best attribute, and we have seen Bernard take that away from fighters already (See Holmes, Trinidad, Taylor, Wright, Tarver)
I really think Bernard has the more complete game here, and he's going to be ready with plans A, B and C. Age will not be a factor. I believe people are looking way too in to the Wright fight. NOBODY has has looked good against Wright, and, what's more, nobody has beat Wright as convincingly. Wright was flat out beat up in the championship rounds of their fight, and gassed at the end.
Joe can say whatever the f*ck he wants about "Who have you fought", but truth is that Joe Cal was targeting a few guys that Hopkins beat (Wright, Tarver) as a way NOT to fight Hopkins.
Time will tell, but I love Hopkins chances in this fight.
i like how u broke that down. i also think people keep thinking about the jt fight when his output was down but forget his number went back up in his last two fight. that why i think he could no longer make weight at 160
No I did not say that. I said UD/SD, so that means he'll probably win in a CLOSE fight.
And since when does it mean that you might have lost if you get a Split Decision victory?
Are you one of those people that thinks close fights are complete ROBBERIES?
I'm pretty sure that if somehow Calzaghe lost a close decision you feel he won you would too call it a robbery.
Hopkins had trouble with taylor's speed and power. Hokins will have problems with Calzaghe's speed, activity and a`ccuracy. I dont see how Hopkins is going to cope with those 3 things. Hopkins doesnt possess the power to keep Calzaghe back. He doesnt have the speed or the activity rate to keep up. Hopkins is a good boxer, but then so was Kessler. Calzaghe by decision.
Don't forget to mention why Hopkins doesn't have that puch output to beat Calzaghe: Calzaghe is lightning fast and throws over 100 punches a round. So not as people are saying: Hopkins is 43 and shouldn't been fighting in the first place.
Why don't you try to say Calzaghe the best of all time? You sure have the nerve.
I have to back Calzaghe in this one, and i think speed will be the main factor on fight night. There's alot of talk of Hopkins counter punching, but i don't think he will be fast enough to hit JC on a regular basis - certainly not enough to win the fight. Another area i think B-Hop is banking on is his inside game, fighting Joe in the clinch, but i see this as one of Joe's strongest areas so i don't think Bernard will have much of an advantage there - if at all.
Since i'm not British, i'll actaully be realistic. Bernard takes the fight over at the end, and wins a UD/SD.
so he realistically takes a split decision that infers that he might have lost. Excellent.

This fight is almost to easy to call. Calzaghe will win this fight by a WIDE decision. Hopkins only claim to fame since losing the Middleweight tilte is winning the Light Heavyweight tilte from a shot Tarver. Calzaghe, if he doesn't get old over night will simply out work Hopkins in every round. He'll win this fight even easier than he beat Lacy because Hopkins doesn't punch hard enough and just doesn't have the endurance to punch non-stop every minute of 12 rounds. Once again Calzaghe by WIDE unamimous decision
