I just thought of that.
Jermain Taylor was absolutely the first guy Pavlik had to use his boxing skills to beat.
Almost every fight before that was a brawl.
I guess that explains Pavliks polished look on the inside, and his sloppy style on the outside.
But think about that. thats definetly 100% true.
wierd, it shows that Skills posted last but i cant see his post.
It's been doing that a lot lately... and the majority of the time it is with Skills's posts.
Hmmm...
Yeah Pavlik wanted to fight a safer fight the 2nd time around. basically won with the jab and same combo over and over.
I think its because now he has achived what he wanted , before he fought with wreckless abandon because he wanted to prove himself I think.
i think it was a strategic choice. Taylor clinches and is much faster on the inside so you cant really fight him there.
You have to try to box him. Taylor hits hard and is significantly faster in both feet and hand.
Against Miranda, Pavlik went all out, straight forward. Thats not how he usually fights. Hadnt fought like that before or since.
He has the balls the implement a tough stradegy like that.
Maybe that's why he lost in the amateurs so much? You had to stick and move a lot more.
That's probably the reason he lost to Hanshaw.
Interesting fact: Pavlik lost to Hanshaw in the amateurs and Hanshaw's next fight in the nationals was against Jermain Taylor. Jermain Taylor Koed him in a great fight.
Anyone have this? My trainer does, and she said had it on tape, but is it avaliable on the net?
Is it good on Taylor for not getting knocked out? Should we look to see Taylor at the top of any division ever again? Does it suggest that since Pavlik couldn't kayo an obviously inferior opponent a second time he's going to become a cautious, boring champion who's exciting days are behind him?
Pavlik showed some smarts sure, but his style of "boxing" Taylor didn't excite me. Of course Taylor never makes a fight exciting, every fight he has been in has been boring with the exception of when he got kayo'd....but I digress...or maybe I didn't even have a point =\
