If he could develop a really good left hook it would make his already good offense even more effective. He's a jab right hand fighter, alot of boxers, alot of great boxers were like that and thus far for him it's worked and worked well getting him to the middleweight title, destroying Edison Miranda, defeating Jermaine Taylor twice, tough guy you dont want to go toe to toe with and an incredible workrate and tenacity but if he could develop a really good left hook he'd be even more effective. If he had that weapon he could use to it mix up his offense and give opponents so more to worry about and defend against opening up and making more effective all of what he does. Instead of always or usually jab jab right hand to lead his offense he could so jab jab, right hand, left hook and alot of other variables here. He could even lead with it and if he would finish puncing sometimes with a left hook he wouldn't be leaning in after he's done throwing which in two lights, against Zuniga, and Against Taylor led to him getting knocked down.
Do you think it's possible that any time soon if ever he could develop a really tremendous or at least good left hook? Maybe he has one and I havn't noticed or underrate it. He's naturally right handed and alot fighters that have the great left hooks fight orthodox but are left handed, not all but a good amount.
Damn, you must not have followed Pavlik much. He's got a good left hook, just cause he didn't show much of it if any in the second Taylor fight means that Pavlik doesn't have a good left hook. Watch the fist Pavlik vs Taylor fight and tell me which punch exactly put Taylor unconcsious? Watch the Bronko McKart fight and tell me which punch exactly knocked him down and made him not want to continue. Watch him against Miranda and look at the first knockdown when Miranda was on the ropes, was that a jab or a right hand? Watch the Lenord Pierre fight and see how many left hooks landed. He must've landed over 15 left hoooks and the punch that knocked Lenord out was again a left hook.
ps: you can see all those fights on youtube or download them from the video section.
You cant argue that Pavik has a great left hook or he would have been using it in these important fights. What reason does he have not to? I did see Pavlik McKart on versus the day it happend and yeah he did knock him down with the left hook but why was it totally absent against Taylor and not used alot against Miranda?
That would be a good addition. He is still pretty young and has time to learn. He keeps getting better every fight.
this is what i think about pav and kessler
I don't know why, but Pavlik's left hook to the head is not very good, he can throw a good one to the body. He should add more punches to his arsenal, especially body punches.
Pavlik should take notes.
Kelly will have a very hard time setting up his right hand unless he starts to go to the body some more.
The 11th round of the Pavlik vs Taylor II fight was a very good round for Pavlik, Pavlik hurt Taylor with a body shot.
I saw him throw it a couple times in the taylor fight but he really leaned on the jab straight right combo. He showed how effective his body work can be also. The way people are so conscious about his straight right, opponents are gonna be very vulnerable around the body. I really think that Jack Leow is gonna beef up the arsenal for the next fight.
