Kind of wondering which fight most people were watching here.
Had actually favoured Pavlik going into the bout, but thought he was outboxed for most of the first 9 rounds.
Pavlik busier, but hardly landling anything clean at all.
Hardly doing any bodywork through the first 10 rounds, & seeming to lose confidence in his own jab, just putting it out there for much of the time.
Taylor consistently landed the harder, sharper shots, especially with the left hand, & then outmanouvering Pavlik through many of the rounds.
Had Taylor winning a close fight, fading in the last couple of rounds, but with enough of a headstart to edge it.
that is exactly how i saw the fight Taylor did'nt deserve to lose and especially by those margins
Way too much respect shown by both guys in this fight. I thought Taylor would hunt Pavlik like a wounded animal, but I guess he just didn't believe in himself enough.
I agree, if he had thrown just a bit more early, and been more aggressive he could and should've beat a sluggish Kelly Pavlik.

pavliks power is no joke...if taylor would have done that then i think pavlik would have catch him and would have ended on a ko :P
Actually that's the point I was making. Taylor was too frightened of getting KO'd again to let unleash. He showed Pavlik too much respect IMO. Pavlik just did what he had to, nothing more or less.

Mijares fight was awesome... he's steadily becoming one of my favorite active fighters. Also Montiel is a monster!
Great card so far! Pavlik/Taylor up next
good fight so far. close.
Pavlik is landing sometimes well see what haoppens
what round is it? who is winning?

I tried to get a few hours sleep before the fight and ended up sleeping throught the first 5 rounds. :nonono:
From what i saw it looked a little closer than what the judges scored it.
I scored it 116=115 Pavlik. Taylor didn't throw enough but looked good countering in some rounds. Taylor lost but Pavlik really isn't that good is he?
Both guys were much more cautious than they were the first time round.

Wow, this is oddly how I predicted their first meeting would go. Taylor did well but was really just hanging on in the end and deceptively took alot of punishment, respect for finishing the fight on his feet. Pavlik cruised in this, outworking and outboxing Taylor convincingly.
Damn 117-111?
Sounded closer than that. Proud of Jermain though. He stayed on his feet and it sounded like he fought his ass off.
Taylor showed he has a lot of fight left and deserves much respect for an excellent effort. 117-111 does sound too lopsided.
NO WAY 117-111!!!! This must be "bring your child to work day" for the judges. First you get a ridiculous split decision, and now there's no way Taylor won ONLY THREE rounds! Get real. Even Dan Rafael doesn't know how to score, he had it 115-114 for Taylor, but doesn't know how to count. I don't see how it could be greater than 2 rounds apart.
But then again, there's no way JT would win a decision against Pavlik.
Pavlik is underrated after seeing that, he has very, very good conditioning even in the later rounds. I still feel however that Calzaghe would beat him handidly because of the way he is so open to shots.
