Easy, I'm asking if you guys lost respect for Williams or gained some for Quintana.. IMO, I'd say I can't lose respect for a guy I never respected ... But, Quintana certainly gained my respect.
i havent lost respect for williams but read my article

williams still has my respect and im boricua from puerto rico by way of ny..but if you know boxing like i do ..look at the margarito fight and the quintana fight williams has one style of boxing and it was exposed in the quintana fight..he thought his height and speed was enough.noooooo wayyy..boxers can study you and come up with a plan like quintana..did ..look at margarito who stood in fron of williams taking blows and trying to rally but had no movement or boxing skills just plain old brawl..quintana came in with a lot of movement and counter punch timeing and turned paul the punisher in to paul the punished:boxing: and they said paul can :boxing: beat cotto ..there crazy for saying that.cotto the most complete fighter he can turn southpaw he has power and hes a complete fighter with over 250 ameature fights ..doo the math..
I gained respect for both. Williams for being all class after the fight and Quintana for showing heart and skill against a much bigger man.
Never had a real opinion on either man until this fight.
I mean after this loss all the hype Williams had is diminished. I will admit I was one who thought Williams could be a force in the WW division. I knew Quintana was a good boxer and provide some problems for Williams, but I didn't think he would land as consistently as he did. He performed his gameplan pretty much perfectly with a little lapses, but he did a great job.
in all honesty I knew Quintana could do this I just thought the activity of Williams would out do him, my Father called it, he said Quintana would do it, he said Quintana would prove to smart and I didn't listen, he told me Quintana is a better Boxer, I should have known because as I said before Williams offense is his defense, he's just a sloppy dude and he never did justice to his height and reach, he never once decided to fight on the defensive so he paid for it, I didn't even fathom Williams fighting so stationed and with such a reckless guard, he allowed himself to get hit at will and didn't mount no kind of defense to what was coming to him..
that being said, I can't lose no respect for Williams because I already knew what his flaws were I just didn't think he would be so lost for a response to what was happening to him, I couldn't lose no respect I can only cement my calculations about this mans style, as a person if anything I can GAIN respect for him for being such a high class opponent, for showing so much respect to not only his opponent but to Boxing, as a clean representative of the sport with dignity and pride..
Quintana didn't surprise me because I knew he was THAT good but I just felt that he always caught the tough breaks, he was a Cotto victim early much like Malignaggi and Torres and ever since people just brushed him off to the side forgetting what he did to Joel Julio. if anything they brushed off Quintana and just disbarred Julio for losing to a guy Cotto obliterated.. fan boy shit.. but people who analyze the fights and know how to read fighters saw the potential, they saw a future world champion just not right now and look he even overcame that odd, he took out probably the biggest hyped name in WW today and literally silenced the haters, I can respect him for his win but he already had his respect in terms of his fight game..

I was the most zealous Williams basher on this site for the last nine months, so I can't get too excited about Quintana's performance. He fought a nice, smart professional fight and picked off his opponent's weaknesses, but no this doesn't make him a real WW champ. We've seen him in with the best (or at least second best), so we know where he stands.

Ive gained alot of respect for Quintana,i knew he was a sick boxer, ive lost nothing for Williams, ive gained even more respect for Cotto,he is simply the 2nd best welterweight no question
UnFair question. Quinatana obviously earn more respect that what I already had for him, but Paul still got my respect. I believe I am from the few that had the name QUINATNA in his TOP 10 WWs list. I guess many others MUST ADD HIM NOW. As I posted before, just like Kermit, PW needs to change his manager. His camp understimate Quintana and did not prepare him well enough for this fight. He should move up in weight anyway.
I didn't really lose any respect at Williams, I was just mad at how he was fighting. Every time he would just follow Quintana and fall into the counters. He should have adapted to that IMO. Gained respect for Quintana though, unexpected win.
I never respected Williams.. he was just a Tall guy who beat up lightweights.. I said as soon as he fights REAL welters.. he would be exposed for the bully he was.. Christ he lost 5 rounds to Margarito.. Who I thought was the most overhyped peice of shit to ever grace a boxing ring.. and would have lost.. if Marg had actually started punching before the 6th round..

Same here, I never respected Williams, he only beat a overrated Margarito. Quintana. . . meh, he got my respect, but a puncher would own him.
