If you could matchup two welterweights from any era who would it be? An immediate response would be SRL vs PBF.. but that's too easy and too obvious. Name some good matchups and some odd ones. I'd personally like to see Hagler -vs- Judah. That would be one of the funniest ass kickings possible IMO.. any others
Jake Vs Kelly
Lets get off welterweights (cause I just got off yours DrewWoodside---I had to say that) and go to some real fighters. This would be the fight for all ages. Jake "The Bronx Bomber" Lomatta vs Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik. This fight would be a slugfest with no blocking and that is the way to fight a fight in my mind. Who ever says othwerise is crazy and shouldn't be a boxing fan. The fight ends in a TKO Pavlick 7 rounds where Lamotta can't see because the fists of fury that connect to his Jake's face leaves him blind as a bat!!!

I got Tito going out by 9 at the latest. I say this because Leonard's power is underrated and people don't seem to give his work to the body the respect it deserves.
I do. That was one of my biggest concerns when I was thinking about a potential matchup is if Tito could take Leonard's power shots without getting knocked down. Probably not he'd likely hit the canvas at least once even if he won, probably twice since it's Leonard.
If he landed one of his good left hooks which is he probably would.
Leonard would win the first 5 rounds boxing, possibly getting hit by 2 good combos from Tito. In round 6 and 7 he would pick a couple spots and slow tito slightly. In round 9 and 10 it would become clear he was dismantling Tito. A guesstimate is he'd be down sometime in eleven.

Your all probably right. I can't help myself. I came to the realization the other day that I was a Tito fanboy and cant view his fights objectively. I'm just captivated by him and it scews my viewpoint.
I still dont think it would be particularly easy fight for Leonard though and that there is a slim chance that Tito could beat him.

there would be full blown conversations occurring in the ring. They have such good control over their bodies they can completely show boat and chat, it would be a treat to watch.

I think he'd be able to get off and land his punches, he's got great speed so he's not going to be competely outgunned in that area by Leonard, I think he can hit Leonard and get him into a defensive mode but Leonard would fight back effecitively with combinations and left hooks. The reach and height of Tito would be a big factor in Tito being able to do some things in there. Tito applying pressure with the long punches and gettting Leonard on the backfoot with Leonard firing back with the combinations, trading at close quarters, it could be an awesome fight. The game plan he had against Hagler wouldn't work if you even want to go there. Moving around, in and out I dont think would work with Tito, I dont think it would be that kind of fight.
"Great speed"????? Have you ever watched Leonard fight???
Leonard fought in the best era in the history of MW.......EVER! He beat ALL of them with speed and intelligence. Not to mention Leonard had an iron chin and his punch was extremely underrated. Tito relied on his power too much in his career, he never adapted after he lost a step. Once he fought fighters that wouldn't stand in front of him, he wasn't a great fighter anymore. I respect Tito, but he's nowhere in the same category as SRL.
Tito vs Leonard
Tito vs Mayweather
edge to Leonard but I think it would be a good fight.
Tito would handle Mayweather to a descive UD or a stoppage is pretty good possiblity because we've never seen him take a punch from a real top welterweight or even fight a real top welterweight even from this era, you have to favor Tito.
Leonard was 5'10 and Tito was 5'11 no advantage for Tito. Leonard's reach was 74" Tito's was 72 1/2" no advantage for Tito. Tito never had great speed he had good speed and mostly threw straight punches.
Leonard KO's Tito to be honest because he would basically punish Tito. If De la Hoya could make Tito look that bad for 8 rounds. Its no way in the world Tito lasts with Leonard. There is nothing in a boxing ring that Tito could do better than Leonard. Tito vs Leonard would damn near be like PBF vs. Gatti. To big of a difference is skills and speed.
I respect your opinion just wholeheartedly disagree with it.
Couldn't have said it better myself. I would much rather see DLH vs Leonard, Leonard would win but it would be much more competative.
I feel like people forget how smart SRL is in the ring. I honestly can't think of a smarter guy in the ring, IMO he would make Tito look mediocre.. He's not gonna stand in front of Tito's power.
I was just going to say that would be Leonard's biggest advantage. He could adapt better than almost anyone else in boxing. Trinidad can't adapt even a little bit.

oops on that hagler ww comment. Hearns would be horrible for Williams considering they have similar attributes.. except the fact that Hearns is a Kayo expert. I'd have money Williams doesn't finish the fight, i don't think williams jab would keep hearns off. Not to go off my own topic but Hagler -vs- Miranda at Middleweight would be sick. I say Miranda b/c Pavlik can utilize his distance and jab well. I'd rather see hagler/miranda b/c both guys are brawlers who don't rely to heavlily on jabbing. Could be an all out 4 round slugfest.

Why do you think this is a competetive fight, with Tito winning a possibility?

I dont agree with that. I give the edge to Leonard but I do think it would be a competetive fight with Tito winning being at least a possilibility.
