Colonel Bob Sheridan is THE BEST!

So if a DK fighter is underperforming or looking like "ish", Sheridan will not give it to you straight.bah, Id rather take that more positive approach. If a fighter is looking like crap, I can tell anyway. I dont need the commentary to mention it over and over again. its very refreshing to hear commentary that tries to focus on what a fighter is doing well instead of whining. the only point of announcers is to hype/make the fight more enjoyable. and Sheridan does that with that excited voice of his, and wont go off talking about random topics in the middle of a fight like the HBO crew often does. My biggest criticism of Sheridan is the way he commentates over old fights as if he was there watching it live... haha, I think its pretty funny. remember seeing that on ESPNClassic and laughing, him tryin to make himself look prophetic by saying that Duran is going to be a future ATG. John Scully used to do that too with Bob Papa for some fights.

to be honest, I dont care. I always get irritated when I hear commentary boohoo about the fight. Im watching it already, if the fight/fighter is already bad I dont need to hear it from the commentary too, thats even more irritating. in fact, he rarely has somethin bad to say regardless if its a Don King fighter or not. at least he aint biased. and I really prefer someone like that. Someone who is a Bob Sheridan fan please refute this statement, because it is one I feel check mates the argument that he is not a great commentator but a Don King employee who is best suited for the marketing department. "If Colonel Bob Sheridan made a negative remark about a Don King-promoted fighter, he would be fired." That right there is a deal buster for you.

I disagree, whever I have watched a fight he is commentating on his has been biased towards one of the boxers. Sure hes got enthusiasm but a bit of objectivity would help. Tyson over Bruno comes to mind! BIG TIME BIAS lol Im a Tyson guy tho so i didnt care! I like Bob he good, could do with someone to play off tho

Sheridan is the best. he actually sounds like he enjoys being at the boxing match, HBO and Showtime barely get worked up about fights anymore. they practically sound depressed at times. Bob Sheridan is a Don King fan boy. If he said anything negative about a Don King fighter, he'd be fired.

Sheridan does the commentary for Don King events. His job is to hype up bad fights so that the audience is fooled into believing they are quality events. Bob Sheridan should be announcing wrestling or monster trucks. Manchine put it in black and white the distance in class and panache' between Lampley and Sheridan. Sheridan has never struck me as entertaining or informative. More times than not he is overwhelmed by the event itself.

I thought he was decent at one time. I gave up on him after he called the Verno Phillips-Cory Spinks fight. He was totally off base with his commentary that night.

I'm just wondering do Lampley and Sheridan commentate on the same fights??I mean do they commentate for 2 different stations simultaneously? Sheridan does all the HBO fights, but his commentary is for countries outside of the USA. The coverage is just watered down HBO, no punch stats etc. with Sheridan on Audio. They use the HBO post fight interviews. It's really shit coverage, I've been subjected to it a few times to many.

Bob Sheridan is one of the worst boxing commentators in the sports history. Want to know why he has done so many fights? He is Don King's handpicked hype man. i agree with this post. He barley calls the fights if you actually listen to what he is saying. He's terrible.

Compare this: Sheridan: "UNBELIEVABLE UNBELIEVABLE UNBELIEVABLE BUSTER DOUGLAS IS THE NEW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD!" Lampley: "...Mike Tyson has been knocked out..." Sheridan is good and he brings the hype and excitement alright but it just doesn't sound right when he is trying to hype up a dull fight. ....man, Sheridan is the by far the best. and Ive never heard Sheridan be that biased...but even if he is, everyone is biased. Ive heard tons of people bitch about Lampley as 'biased' and making lousy calls and all. he didnt sound too biased when Douglas was beating Don King's fighter Tyson up in that clip, and he had Douglas ahead and all(some dumbass judge had him up or something...). unless Douglas was also signed with Don King, but I dont think so...dunno tho actually, imagine if Merchant and Sheridan teamed up...they would make the perfect mix, theyre opposite, it would be great! haha

the Col. is way too biased and way too much of a King lackey to be considered the best at anything (except perhaps the best King lackey), but no question that his enthusiasm and love for the game is second to none.
