Bob Sheridan is not my first choice to commentate on fights, he's like the A.M. political radio of boxing commentary and kinda reminds of one of the guys I think the King, from the WWE, by the sound of his voice.
Also Joe Tessitore I dont really prefer. Just comparing him to the former ESPN guy Bob Papa or Jim Lampley, even the guy on showtime, Albert, just something off about him.
Jim Lampley, Larry Merchant and George Foreman were my favorite team. Prefer Steward over Lennox Lewis.
I used to like Foreman, but I was pretty young. I'm only 21 now so I was in my early teens when he reigned on HBO. Now when I go back and watch fights where he called, wow. He is retarded. I still loved listening to him though because Merchant every now and then would lose his cool and take an always hilarious shot at him.
I like commentars that say what I'm thinking. The guys I picked as my favorites do that the most apart from Foreman. He's in there not only because he's enjoyable to listen to but he does actually brings a good perspective from a boxers standpoint.
I really like Tessitore. Listen to his call of Green/McCrary. How could you not love that? I absolutely love Bob Sheridan too. Lampley and Albert are both really good as well. I also like Bob Papa. Really the only play by play guy I can think of that I don't particularly like is Nick Charles. He is too laid back. Fran Charles was awful when he called fights too, but thankfully that has come to an end.
Color guys are more hit and miss. I love both Kellerman and Merchant. Lennox and Emannuel are okay. Lennox is pretty ditzy and Steward usually sounds biased. RJJ was great when he was on in terms of what he said, though he has a bad voice for the job and will say anything to make himself sound better. Bernstein is great. Steve Farhood is just as bad as Nick Charles. Really, I'm not a fan of the ShoBox crew. I absolutely hate Teddy Atlas. He seems well liked around here and I don't understand it. He makes the most obvious points over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over until the fight ends. I feel like I'm being talked to like it is the first fight I've ever watched. He also never shuts the fuck up and likes to bring down fights before giving them a chance. I hope ESPN executed him or something and that is why he wasn't on last week.
