So who should Cotto have fought instead of Gomez?

I dont know what team Cotto was thinking when they agreed to fight this dude who has done nothing to deserve a shot at the puerto warrior. And we dont want to hear that shit about a tune-up fight before the Margarita show down. There are many, many, Dudes out there that are worthy of a shot at Cotto. I'm very surprised that he {Cotto} let this bull-shit go down, I mean he says he never picks his opponent but, at some point one must have some-kind of say-so... He damn well knew that the boxing fans was going to give him a hard time for fighting a bum like Gomez this kid knows he hasn't a snow ball chance in burning hell of beating Cotto. Collazo in no way is a tune up fighter. Collazo is a very good fighter IMO he is underated & wil win a version of the WW title again IMO

What am saying his NOBODY is ducking Cotto, Arum wanted a Tune up all along, If not he would have made Cotto/Margarito after both appeared on the same card in November...But he would rather use the "mayweather wouldnt fight Cotto'' Line because that way the Fans would excuse the "Tune up" with Gomez. Ok, so what your saying is that Cotto should forget about fighting Margarito and fight Cintron instead? Because Cotto/Margo is the important fight here and Gomez is just a scrub that is going to keep Cotto warm for Margo. I like Cintron as a fighter though his performances as of recently have many to question his heart. I would much rather see Margo/Cotto due to the styles involved. It would make for a much more exciting fight imo. gomez was fighting at middleweight at 1 point so he's more of a threat than people think i would rather fight a smaller hatton or a smaller castillo than fight a tough gomez

People are underating Gomez, he is a live oponent. He is taller than Cotto and has the bigger reach. He has fought decent competition as of late and looked great against Gati. Gomez has also fought at higher weight classes, and bigger oponents than Cotto with success. I wasn't a big fan of Cotto at the start because I felt he was babied, but now he fights the best in the world. Even his so called "tune up" fights are against good oponents. I'm not saying Gomez has the edge on Cotto or anything, but i think this fight will be a lot more competitive than people think. Cotto could have done alot worse, look at DLH fighting a 140 lbr in Forbes.

good point if margarito is #1 ranked and he's schedule to fihgt him next than its ok. he definately does deserve a little break. collazo was the former 147lb wba champ, so he should be ranked up there. hatton beat him, then vacated. the wba should of let collazo fight the winner of quintana julio. but instead cotto got the nod. Thats the point I'm trying to make. Alot of these posters seem to think that this is being treated as a major fight. For some reason, a lot of these posters ignore the fact that this is a set up fight for Cotto/Margarito. A lot of these posters want Cotto to face a legit welter threat to stay active for Margarito even though the Margo fight will prolly only take place around 3-4 months later. A lot of these posters seem to lack common sense.

clottey is under top rank so you no arum is not going to have him fight cotto now especially as much as he has been trying to make this cotto margarito fight happen he's not going to give clottey a shot at cotto before margarito.after bein dominated by shane and comig off of rehab i'm pretty sure collazo would of wanted a tune up especially since he lost 2 of his biggest fights

collazo cintron or clottey none of these guys are tune ups, very tough fights. who's the # 1 ranked guy by the WBA. Gomez definately does not deserve a shot, he's done nothing. According to the WBA's website, Antonio Margarito is the #1 ranked Welter in the world as of Nov/Dec 2007. Cotto is already in the works to fight Antonio Margarito. He is taking Alfonso Gomez as a tune up in the meanwhile. So again, I ask, who should Cotto fight?

collazo just fought 2 weeks ago I thought we already talked about this... maybe it was someone else. Anyways, I guarantee you that even though both Collazo and Clottey just fought, they would gladly take Cotto on with less than 6 months rest.
