its lookin good, were getting unification at cruiserweight, heavyweight, maybe welterweight, juan diaz is about to be don king free, vasquez-marquez 3, its looking real good, the tune ups just have to lead to big fights and its a sealed year
This first half is way better then last years first half..........
This year could top last year, which is saying alot since last year was probably the best year boxing has had in over a decade.
Haye vs Maccrinelli
marquez vs vasquez 3
and light welterweight and lightweight divisions are gonna accumulate some very good matches after a few fights to sort others out.
those two fights are bankers to be contender for fight of the year

I think it is pretty problematic that P4P #1 isn't going to have a real fight in 08 for the overall good of the sport.
It is encouraging to see 2 P4P matchups though...
Hopkins vs. Calzaghe
Marquez vs. Pacquiao
Pavlik vs. Taylor is good too.
The welterweight division (which is supposed to be the best division in boxing) has no good fights lined up, except for Cintron vs. Margarito (which isn't even that stellar) and the rumor of Cotto vs. Margarito.
It is still early though, but so far, these fights are not living up to how good 2007 was.
That's why I said there is potential for it. There could be a Cotto vs Margarito matchup as you mentioned. Pavlik vs Abraham, maybe another heavyweight unification match, Calzaghe vs Jones, Hatton vs Malignaggi, Calderon vs Solis, Pacquiao or Pavlik could moving up and a slight chance of DLH vs Trinidad 2. But as you said, it's too early to tell.
2008 has the potential to be better than 2007, the first half of the year has some good fights, a few of them are tune up fights that could lead to a very good schedule towards the end of the year.

Does anyone think with the fights that are lined up and others that have been announced that 2008 is shaping up to be as good as 2007?
Because i do.
Eh... it'll be a good year, but 07 is way ahead with the shit that has been signed so far.
