U see what being an entertaining fighter gets you?

Look at Mayorga! This guy wins some, and loses some, but he is a very marketable fighter. Just look at some of his opponents. Forrest 2x, Tito, Oscar, Vargas, and now is in talks for a fight with Mosley. This guy gets shots at the big names one after another, due to his entertaining style. While guys like Spinks and Winky get put on the back burner, due to thier boring, lackluster styles. Gotta give it to Mayorga. He may not be very skilled, but he definitely shows up to fight, and u can guarantee that he'll give you your moneys worth.

Winky is like boxing's version of the San Antonio Spurs. Boring to watch, but gets the job done. That is an apt analogy. Now the Spurs will get remembered more than the suns do, correct?

That fight was never shown on US TV. I used to trade tapes a lot and that one was sent to me a number of years ago. If you want I can see if I can find it. I've moved a couple of times since and I hardly watch anything on VHS anymore, but I'll give it a look when I have time. Nah, don't bother... I have seen the Sky version uploaded somewhere, I can find it if I look. Thanks though Scott!

Was that fight ever broadcast in the US? It looks like you live in LA, and I can't imagine that someone mailed you a VHS tape of a fight... I am just curious. I have never heard of it being broadcast in the US before, so I would just like to know. That fight was never shown on US TV. I used to trade tapes a lot and that one was sent to me a number of years ago. If you want I can see if I can find it. I've seen the Simon fight and have it on tape somewhere. It could easily have been a draw. As a matter of fact I think they announced it as a draw then changed the decision, like in Barrera-Juarez I. nobody thinks Juan Diaz is boring, how could they? but yet he doesnt have a big fan base for some reason. doesnt make sense, does it? get what I was sayin in my last post? He's still a fighter on the come-up. Winky on the other hand has been around the sport for ever, and still doesnt have a decent fanbase.

I haven't seen the Simon fight, but I have also heard that it can be credibly argued that Winky won that one too. hell even the vasquez fight when he floored wink 5 times the only way Vasquez won that fight is 112-111....... not to mention the blatant 50 warnings for rabbit punches....

Vargas, Taylor and Hopkins are ALL fights you could say Winky won. Honestly, I wish Winky would just fight a semi-bad fighter real quick and actually knock him out for once. Just that little knockout over a lousy fighter would make him much more marketable. but fighters just dont understand this kind of stuff I guess...
