Look at Abraham and Pavlik after the fight, I am watching a clip right now of Pavlik talking to the camea in ring right after the fight was stopped...his jaw is PULVERIZED O.o It is as bad as Abrahams was...wow
Many of you are waaaay to high on Pavlik.
He beat a drained Miranda and almost got KO'd by Taylor, a guy who couldnt hurt the 154lbs guys put in front of him.
IMO, Miranda will be a much bigger, feared name in boxing than Kelly Pavlik in 1 year from now. Just like he ways 8 months ago.
But until than, I will stand behind my beliefs on Miranda and wait to laugh at you jokers!
This is like 'Pantera2000's Question Time'.
I've got one:
If Joe Calzaghe were to move back down after the Hopkins fight, let's say his opponent were Miranda instead of the Pavlik/Taylor winner (as has been mooted). How would you see that one panning out? You think Edison could destroy Joe with his power?
If Miranda were able to land one of those major bombs on Joe, I can see Calzaghe being knocked out or at least left wide-open vulnerable to being finished off. But if Calzaghe is able to evade Edison's heaviest bombs all night, I think Pantera would be easily outpointed. Joe -- even with his brawling streak -- would be wary of Miranda's brutal power @ 168 and would look to keep as much of the action as possible at a comparatively safe point-scoring range. As such, I'd see little chance of Edison winning a decision. In my mind, he could only win that fight by catching Joe with something big and knocking him out.
How do you see it?
Joe is by far the best 168lbs, and p4p not far from PBF.
No doubt Miranda would try to back him up and get in a big right hand. That would change the fight and he could pull of the KO. But for the most part, if this did not happen, JC would control the fight and make Edison look bad. Maybe now that Joe is getting older, Miranda would have a better chance in overpowering him, but my money would be on Calzaghe.
1-2 % body fat???
My friend, who is your dope dealer because he must be giving you some good shit.
It's physically impossible to get that low. Championship bodybuilders go no lower than 3% . Typically, it's between 3-5%
Your definitely on in terms of Pavlik though. Thats a typical % for slender males..... Ectomorphs
I know quite a bit about diet and body fat.
I hear what you are saying, but when you are down to your lowest body fat, your body will start losing muscle. You can not stay healthy when this happens. Body builders need to get low, but they are ripped at 3-5%. Lebron James claims to play basketball and keep around 4% body fat.
When you starve yourself to make weight, your fat can get below 3% and it is very very dangerous. That was my point, and I think Edison was so low he was burning muscle to make the weight.
I would say Miranda, at 10-12% body fat would weigh 185-195lbs. So to put things into perspective, at equal BF percentage, Kelly Pavlik weighs 160lbs and Edison Miranda weights 185lbs+.
Miranda always had trouble making 160lbs, but was able to do it in the past. As he got older, made money, he got bigger. It is part of the sport. Not many fighters stay at the same weight throughout their career. Miranda had talked about moving up in weight after the Abraham fight, but the money was too good at 160lbs and he thought he could still make the weight. Every fight got harder and harder for him, but he pushed himself to do it.
After Pavlik, he said that's it for 160lbs, he physically couldnt do it anymore. He didnt eat for 3 days before that fight, trained hard those days. He even was at the point of spitting for 24 hours and clipping his nails as far back as he could. All that and he still weighed in at 160.25lbs. He asked his trainer to take him to a blood bank to loose the final 1/4 lbs. It never happened, but it shows how desperate he was.
You are right. He probably should have moved up after the Abraham fight. He now admits how great he feels at 168lbs, and is not killing himself to make weight. I think his power was damn good at 160lbs, but he didnt keep all his strength do to the weight loss. At 168lbs, he is a different animal. And that is scary considering how close to the top he was at 160lbs.
Any of you who do not compete in weight class sports: boxing, wrestling, etc have no idea what 8lbs can mean to a person. At 168lbs you look at Edison's body at the weigh in and wonder how the hell did he ever loose another 8lbs. He is down to probably 1-2% body fat. Look at Pavlik at 160lbs, his body fat is still probably at 8-12%....

Miranda never had Pavlik on queer street, he hit Pavlik with his money punch several times and Pavlik came right back at Miranda unphased...No one is disputing the fact that Miranda is a massive puncher, he just happens to get all these spectacular KO's over BUMS...when he steps up and takes on elite fighters like Pavlik and Abraham he gets beat.
The Miranda hype was dead for a little while after he got destroyed by Pavlik....Miranda KO's a Contender Bum and now the hype is back.
ARSE WIPE!!!!!!
MIRANDA WAS DEAD AT THE WEIGHT, WITH NOTHING ON THE END OF HIS PUNCHES....
I think Miranda is not fast enough to beat Joe. Joe is the best Supermiddleweight of the last decade. Lacy was also an exciting good fighter but against Calzaghe he had no chance. Calzaghe destroyed him and Lacy was not the same after thisn defeat yet.
I agree Miranda has trouble going backwards. But look what happened to Abraham when he was coming forward, he got his jaw cracked in 2 places. Healthy, Miranda would love to meet Pavlik in the middle of the ring and see how long Kelly continues to come forward. Others have tried it... Eastman tried it one round, got nailed flush, and never tried again.
If you ask Miranda, he loves the guys that want to come forward. Other than Pavlik, they have all backed down. At 168lbs, Pavlik may be heavier, but Miranda is much much healthier and stronger. It would be night and day compared to what happened in Memphis.

Pavlik's gameplan was to back Miranda up.
Let's say they fight at 168, both fighters are stronger which creates a balance for both fighters. Remember, Pavlik has a hard time making weight as well.
It doesn't matter how much Miranda weighs, he can't fight going backwards, his defense is his offense, without that he's nothing but a target.
I have no doubt in my mind that if Miranda and Pavlik fight at 168, Pavlik backs him up and knocks him out again. This is a matter of strategy.
I've watched Miranda for a while, I watched him against Arthur Abraham, when Arthur backed Miranda up, and he did a couple of times, Miranda was helpless, you gotta have a good gameplan against these guys.

I like miranda quite a bit, hes a very exciting fighter to watch and does have great power... I think he would give pavlik a better fight the 2nd time around... but at 168 he would STILL get that ass knocked out by pavlik... I think miranda should fight calzaghe.. now thats a fight i would like to see.. i still have zag winning that one but i think it would be a great fight.
Queston for Pantera2000: When's Miranda fighting again? And against who? I heard that Pascal was in the making but haven't heard anything since Miranda's last fight...
The current plan is Pascal on June 7th in Montreal. However, HBO and Showtime are both in discussions on other possibilities. The problem is, there really are no other big fight available. Not many of the top guys want to risk getting in the ring with Edison. Even if they agree with some of you and think Miranda isnt much, there is NO denying his power and what one punch could do to any of them.
Miranda is going to have to grab a belt and have the fans once again demand the big fights. Pavlik/Calzaghe/Taylor, none of them want to risk a fight with Edison unless there is big money at stake. Kinda of a hard position for Edison to be in. He wants to fight the best, but the best want to stay far away from him.
I hope he rematches Pavlik at SMW
Me too! Some day....
Look at their weigh in pics in Memphis before they fought.
Miranda, no doubt is more muscular, but look how lean and ripped he got to make weight. You can see muscles and bones on him that you dont see on anybody. He physically had nothing left. Pavlik is lean, but you can see he has a lot more weight to lose to get to the point Miranda was at this weight. I dont see how anyone could look at these pics and think Pavlik has a harder time making the same weight.....

I agree with you man. Most people dont like Miranda because he talked so much before he lost to Pavlick, and now it backfires on him and they talk him down. But he i have no doubt he proves himself again and get the respect back.
