I thought the Ring belt changed hands if you were beaten at your weight, so I guess they must have been talking about the alphabet bouts (is there some legal reason for not calling a bout for Ring belts a title fight??)
Is there anyone with a better knowledge of the RING rules that could set me straight???
That was great work by Foreman. "You built this up, now that he's won, don't try and tear it down." I thought that was excellent.
Foreman defends boxers against those two asswads so I can appreciate it.
They could be fighting for a belt made of pigskin for all I care. They are fighting and that's what matters. That being said I am guessing te article was just mentioning alphabet titles not the ring belt.
As long as those running the RING can keep their rankings objective and free from commercial influence (there are possible conflicts of interest at present) there should be no reason why the rankings cannot be used as either a carrot or a stick to persaude fighters to come out of their alphabet comfort zone and prove they are THE best period
Yes it will be for the Ring title, it's not an official title, that's why it's a 'non-title' fight.
Yeah, I get the feeling that if they used the word title, the alphabet boys' lawyers would start sharpening their pencils
He's the best they ever had because of that shit. I made a thread about it last week after watching that fight and Tito-Vargas, when he bitches Lamps out for calling Vargas a "Mexican-American."
Absolutely my favorite third man. On that list I think Lennox Lewis is second, and Manny Steward is 125th.

At the end of Jones-Ruiz, Lamps says "what Roy has done is expose a paper champ." Big George replies "they're all paper titles."

If at 175 I think the Ring belt is on the line. The alphabelt bouts don't acknowledge the Ring belt. This wasn't very helpful. I realize that now.
I don't give a shit about any belt and that includes the shitty Ring belt.

maybe we should have a Boxing scene belt list, with a monthly democratic vote by true boxing fans (which is what most of us are right) most of the hugger's votes should cancel each other out, leaving an objective score (or is it just too much effort???!!! lol
