people r too quick to forget how gd a fighter was/is just because of 1 poor fight. people need 2 remember OSCAR DE LAHOYA was a GREAT fighter.
i have the feeling that de lahoya is goin to ko floyd in the rematch setting up a third final fight which floyd is goin to see as his ticket to all time greatness.
people can say they will not watch the fight/ they will not get excited as much as they want. but come fight time EVERY1 will be excited.
I know i have no right talking about mexican warriors coz im not mexican but i think dlh should be considered a mexican warrior. He has never been stopped and the one time he was, hes opponent was bigger than him and was called bernard hopkins. No shame in loosing and getting koed by the perfect body shot. Even castillo couldnt get up when it happened to him. And castillo is a true mexican warrior.
DE LA HOYA WILL NEVER BE CONSIDERED A MEXICAN WARRIOR, HE'S ALWAYS BEEN THAT TYPE OF FIGHTER THAT CARES TOO MUCH FOR HIS LOOKS AND GARBAGE LIKE THAT. DON'T GET ME WRONG, I THINK DE LA HOYA IS A REALLY GREAT FIGHTER, BUT A BLOOD AND GUTS MEXICAN WARRIOR? NEVER.
It's no shame for De La Hoya, a welterweight, to lose to Bernard Hopkins who is a huge middleweight.
He probably could've gotten up but how many other Mexicans went up to fight the middleweight champion? De La Hoya is the only one who tried.
Sure De La Hoya doesn't fit the image of the warrior spirited Mexican fighter but he should be respected for his past accomplishments.
He is a businessman now but in the past he was a fighter.
You could easily argue that DLH beat Mosley and Trinidad. Split decision against Mayweather, Hopkins was too big.
The fact is he lost all those fights but he should get credit for those fights, it's not like he was blown out.
I AGREE 100%, EXCEPT FOR THE HOPKINS FIGHT, HE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN HIS FUCKIN ASS UP. THAT'S WHY HE'LL NEVER BE CONSIDERED A GREAT MEXICAN FIGHTER.
There is a lot to make people forget Oscar's accomplishments.
He beat Vargas and Quartey.
He lost to Trinidad, Mosley, Mosley, Hopkins and Mayweather Jr.
He faced the best, and had a terrible record against them.

do u honestly think mayweather will take a dive?
are u sayin the only possible way for oscar to win is for mayweather 2 take a dive?? be serious
I have never been so sure of anything in my life. It is the only way this fight makes sense. Watch how this plays out:
Everyone dismisses De La Hoya in this fight. "He's too old, He's washed up." BOOM! Mayweahther gets knocked out. De La Hoya becomes huge. You start reading about how De La Hoya was never washed up because he was never hit hard in his career. You start reading about how he's still one of the top fighters around. You start reading about... DE LA HOYA/MAYWEATHEWER III. Which would be TREMENDOUS. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
Now. What about Floyd? Doesn't he care about his legacy? Yes. He does. This will make his legacy. First of all, history doesn't care that much about "0's." Fans care, but history doesn't. History loves great stories... great fights... (Mayweather lacks both at this point). This will give him the great story. Second, this will give him his defining trilogy. A De La Hoya knockout will legitimize all three fights. He'll be welcomed into Golden Boy and have a promotional career infront of him.
Call me crazy now. Feel stupid in September.
It's not that people forget about it, it's that people live in reality and can see for themselves that DLH is DONE!!!! If Floyd lost to DLH that would be pathetic!!!!
