Everytime Tito is interviewed he has his father by his side. He has to check everything with his father like a 16 year old.
Let's face it, his father has been destructive to his career. He's a horrible trainer and Tito has never been able to improve his skills. He had to talent to be great but his father kept him from moving on his early years.
The whole controversy with the gloves before the Jones fight was created by Tito's immature father and probably distracted him. Lampley even say that Roy went to see Tito in his hotel room. Seems so immature and unprofessional to me and it's not the first time that ''Papa Tito'' has complained and made a scene before the fight. When Lampley asked him what he intended for the future Tito said that he had to check with his father.
the problem with tito is not his father, it's the ring rust. He did good last night, but you can tell he was a bit nervous and figity. He did great for a guy who hasn't fought in three years, and he didn't take the dive. He fought the 12 rounds, always moving foward.
What about his mysterious retirement after the Hopkins fight. Maybe papa Trinidad was traumatized after watching his son take a beating that he told him to retire. The whole father son relationship seems mentaly unhealthy to me. Tito should have let his father go 8 years ago like so many other fighters did.
Yeah he could have had a different trainer that improved his skills, but I think he's done pretty well in his career and a sure fire hall of famer. I mean when your three losses are against Hopkins, Wright and RJJ that's nothing to be ashamed of.
Tito is cool as hell. I like Tito, but I've always thought he should move his head more. Tito probably would be better had he got with trainer who could teach him some defensive tricks.
