Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaeffer told ESPN.com that the fight could move to April 19 and off PPV. "I am working very hard to try to do the Hopkins fight live on HBO," he said. HBO is interested, offering about $6 million, which is close to what the promotion would net if the fight was on PPV and did 250,000 buys.
he's special until proven otherwise.
jones jnr didnt wanna come to the uk when he was on top of the world.
hopkins pulled out of the fight years back.
it's a shame that the great boxers of today fear losing so much. we would have had fights like benn, eubank, watson, toney, jones jnr, hopkins, nunn and mcclelan vs each other. They fear losing because ignorant boxing fans these days will label anyone with a record that is not undefeated as an overrated bum.

Oh by the way, I think this fight would still be PPV in the UK/europe area.
I'm pretty sure Hatton/Castillo was PPV there, while we got it for free.
So looks like you guys would still have to pay.
Nope.
We have it free regardless. Calzaghe is signed to Setanta sports for his next 2 fights which is a subscribtion. Hatton was signed to Sky Sports which is why his fights are PPV.

You should come to Nevada Smith's to watch the fight.I think I've been there before, but there's this bar close to where I live and it's mostly filled with people from my country and I usually watch fights there.
Comes off the streak beating the best man in light heavy and one of the best p4p fighters, but americans don't care much for p4p, right and going to fight another p4p fighter and a best supermiddle in the world, but americans don't care much for that, huh?
I mean, let's be honest, most of your ppv buying power are morons, they will buy anything that's been well promoted and was on MTV(or BET). If they are not buying something that is most likely the error of the marketing team, not the fighter's.
Yeah. True. I love how Europeans call Americans dumb, fat, lazy. Do you guys know what we think about you? I'll tell ya: Nothing. We don't think about you. Your entire continent is irrelevant in the 21st century. Deal with it.
NO PPV? FUCK YEAH.
Though that means we'll have less chance of getting a good undercard. Then again Golden PPV's (minus Cotto Mosley) have shitty undercards anyway.
I'm a Hopkins fan but a realist.....I'd rather pay to watch Calzaghe then Hopkins and thats another reason I'm going to cheer for Calzaghe. It will be the first time other than the Winky fight that I haven't wanted Hops to win that I can even remember......Actually I wanted DLH too but other than that can't think of a time I didn't support Hops.Yea it's not like I don't like Hopkins, but IMO he is being grossly overrated by some of the people in this forum.
Who's America's best P4P fighter? PBF, and he isn't currently fighting, and who comes after PBF? Hopkins. He's the second best American fighter, and people don't wanna see him fight.
by the way... where in queens are you from?

maybe they would pay if they had a clue about who he was fighting
Haha, yea, 43 year old, P4P status, over 20 title defenses, and Americans aren't willing to watch him fight.
he's 43.... there's really not a whole lot to see.
Yeah that's because Americans don't lick the balls of everything that comes out of our country.Who's America's best P4P fighter? PBF, and he isn't currently fighting, and who comes after PBF? Hopkins. He's the second best American fighter, and people don't wanna see him fight.
This, my friend, is proof that noone is paying to watch Hopkins fight in his own country. If the fight was in UK and PPV, everyone would pay to see Calzaghe.
