how do people rate Arturo Gatti ?
I find it hard to rate him cause he wasnt that gd at boxing or fighting imo i think he had a very gd chin but baldomir knocked him out :S and baldomir is a light puncher so i duno how to rate this guy.
Suprisingly, at this point, no.
He speaks very well .
The only time he sounds punch drunk is after a few Bud Lights haha
I'm more worried about how he will be 10-15 years from now.
So was Larry Hazzard when he came running into the ring after Gomez hit him.
Seriously though. I know everyone loved to see him in the ring coming back from beatings , but I don't know how it will affect him health wise in years to come.
Ali started showing signs not too long after he fought Berbick.
Time will tell.
oooh ok i hope hes alrite
I think overall Gatti was a solid fighter. Good power in both hands, above average body puncher, tremendous heart and will.
Obviously he was mostly awful defensively, and his match making team deserves a lot of credit for getting him in with guys who were either on their way out, or naturally smaller.
does gatti have anything wrong with him? from takin such big shots?

Excellent point!
He was 29-1 at that weight I believe.
One loss to King Solomon in a 4 rounder very early in his career.
Some of his best fights were at 130 also.
He could stay in there long enough to take a beating and come back.
Amazing stuff

He was a very good fighter at super featherweight because of his size, power and chin. Not many could beat him at that weight.
Gatti only lost once at that weight early in his career, then he started losing when he went up in weight because his size wasn't such a factor in his fights anymore.

nice stuff people i guess he was a entertaining fighter i wonder what it would of been like if he had mayweathers boxing ability :P with his chin and heart he wud of never got knocked out if he had better boxing ability.

No doubt, the most exciting fighter of all time. He was a B- level fighter with an A+++ HEART.
There have been plenty of talented fighters that have come and gone that had half as much heart.
Without that heart and chin he would have been a nobody. Nobody, and I mean, nobody else could have taken the beatings he took and did what he did with such mediocre boxing abilities.
People like to criticize him all day long how he got hit alot and never beat a top guy.
Styles make fights and thats that.
He lost to De La Hoya and Mayweather. Big deal. So did alot of guys.
He lost to Baldomir and Gomez. Big deal. He was well spent and still had flashes in the Baldi fight.
Alot of great fighters fought when they should have hung the gloves up and lost. Joe Louis, Henry Armstrong, Ali, Tyson ... And the list goes on.
It's amazing his career lasted as long as it did with all the abuse he took ... Inside and outside of the ring.
The man could party with the best of them and still did great things in the ring.
2 losses to Ivan Robinson. Yeah , he lost. He also took some of the most viscious punches I have ever seen and kept coming.
And I'll give you all some inside info. Around that time he was partying his hardest. A week before the first Robinson fight he was at a press conference sipping wine from a cup and was shitfaced.
Between the frst and second Robinson fights he was partying down in Miami and got stabbed in an altercation over a woman.
He lived the same way outside the ring as he did in it. Reckless.
And I don't even have to write about the Trilogy.
Nobody will ever forget those fights.
To top it off. A great guy outside of the ring. Iv'e hung out with him on numerous occasions and he's as humble as they come.
Solid chinned entertaining tough guy. Thats how I rate him. He didn't have enough skill to hang with the elite but he wasn't a bum either. I would say he was definitely a contribution to boxing unlike others.
good fighter.. entertaining.. gets into vicious exchanges.. good chin.. average boxing ability.. if u watch some of his fights, in the begining, buddy definately made him a better boxer.. he is a decent boxer, but basically likes to get in there and trade power shots, which is what everyone wants to see..
hes my favorite fighter..
hes taken much too much punishment over his career which is why he was easily knocked out by baldo and gomez.. his chin is granite, but it had too much wear and tear..
i love the guy tho. pretty intelligent outside the ring as well..
He was a pretty good fighter who kind of wasted his prime by partying and could of really been something big had he not of done that. But kind of managed to salvage his career in the end at 140. He made a few stupid decsions like trying to box against Mayweather. And by the time he fought Baldomir and Gomez his body just couldnt take anymore punishment.
He was a good boxing-bully. I think he struggled with bigger guys (Oscar, Baldomir, and Gomez were all much bigger guys). Plus he was pretty shot after the Floyd fight. Even though he TKO'd Daamgard he took a lot of clean rights in that fight. I think against smaller guys at 140 he showed good power and a really good chin. Not a great fighter but he sold a lot of tickets and was pretty much always worth tuning in for.

Probably one of the more entertaining guys to see in the last decade.. his wars with mickey ward were tremendous.. Skill wise definately lacking.. but a guy i would def pay to see
