Man i would mos def buy this fight. I think their styles match perfectly! At 147 it would be awsome but at 140 it would be even better!
But because this is boxing and we have corruption and business first and sportsmanship latter, this will probably only happen when Hatton is like 32 or 33 and doesn't stand a chance anymore.
Man, in mma this shit doesn't happen, the good fights always happen.
Bottom line is this
Obviously Cotto was always underweight at '40
he seems comfortable at '47, but I even suspect he'd be more natural at '54
That said Hatton is a natural @ '40
he would have worn down a weakened 140 Cotto
Cotto @ 147 or higher would knock Hatton out of the ring
and end his career with the beating, if you dont believe me
ask Hatton
This fight would be a onesided battering of Hatton. Floyd defeated him, but Cotto would destroy him as a fighter, he would beat him until there would be nothing left of him. Hatton is an exciting fighter, a good fighter at 140 and Hatton would trade with Cotto at times but I don't see Hatton lasting even 5 rounds.
What advantages does Hatton have over Cotto? Power? No. Speed? Yes, but not significantly, SSM was much faster. Technique? Are you kidding me, Hatton has no technique, in the prefight interviews he told reporters he know how to punch from different angles. Hatton just swings at you and circles, he doesn't look for angles he just tries to hit you. Defense? Hatton ties you up and swings wildly so there is no defense, Cotto's defense isn't great but he was able to stop a lot of SSM's punches which impressed me
But Mayweather would kill Cotto

At 36? Right. But lets continue..
Technique? Are you kidding me, Hatton has no technique
Again, WTF are you talking about?!

You made a good point here but didn't even noticed. That's exactly what could give the fight to Hatton, tieing Cotto up (no body demolition oh noes) when he comes up close and circling him. Cotto does not circle so he will be in the end of Hatton's gloves allllll night. It is true Hatton didn't use angles vs mayweather but thats because mayweather doesnt come stright at you. well cotto does, he is strong and alot of heart but so is hatton and hatton has an huge heart as well. WOW what a fight.
Alfonso Gomezsame guy that PBF avoid to take a fight that offered him less money.
False, Mayweather made the same money by fighting Baldomir, the lineal welterweight champion.
Cotto between the champs in 147 is the one that has faced the better oposition and you have to count margarito this year. And other thing Cotto is not in vacation and eventually is going to fight every contender or cham in 147.
Oh really, and how would you know, besides wishful thinking I mean?
He even doesnt choose the oponents to the fights he only trained to them. So if the company puts in front of him a Gorrilla he fights it. Hes not afraid like other boxers around.
Are you borikua?
Only because Cotto can't make 140 without being severely weakened. At 147 it isn't even close.
Yes it is. Cotto would probably stop Hatton but it would be a war.

Ok thats only a tuneup fight. But the winner will get Margarito. Thats the same guy that PBF avoid to take a fight that offered him less money. FORMER 147 paperbelt holder with NO top fighter wins and a FEW losses gives you more credibility than UNBEATEN LINEAL 140 champ, with wins over better opposition?
Sounds like bullshit.or is better oposition than Margarito?. IF maragarito is a cherry PBF, DLH and other fighters would never ducked him like happen in his case.
Surely a tougher opponent than Margarito if you are Mayweather.
Styles make fights. Margarito would not pose any problem for Mayweather, only a 0.1% chance of getting KOed. Hatton had most of the things you could desire to put in a ring against Mayweather, too bad it turned out Mayweather is also a great on the inside and can fight rough and smart as Hopkins.

Hatton is good but he is not a ww. He gets a gift in the decition of the judges in the Luis Collazo fight. Hatton is a bigger name. but in ww Hatton beats Margarito? or is better oposition than Margarito?. IF maragarito is a cherry PBF, DLH and other fighters would never ducked him like happen in his case.
Depends on the referee Hatton is as tough as Cotto both fighters chins can be questioned ,Cotto hits to hard for Hatton at 147 though & if Hatton cant take a body shot the last person u wanna fight is Miguel Cotto
Cotto by late stoppage
At 140 or 147 this fight ends in a late knockout. The only difference is who is on the recieving end. Hatton is far too active for Cotto to just brush aside at either weight and Cotto is too strong for Hatton to overpower at either weight so we would be looking at a classic, but we know which fighter is strongest at which weight.
hatton is not that active. he throws between 20 - 60 (averages around 45) punches per round, which is not really active at all. i mean, every once in a blue moon (joke intended, for all you brits) he will get off 85 in a round, but it falls off steeply after that.
This is a thread created for Floyd fans to downplay Cotto. And Cotto right know is going is to have a tune up fight to get maragarito later. Yeah a guy that if he beats give him more credibility as a boxer than a win over Hatton.

Cotto is going to fight a real welterwieght a good rank welterweight in Margarito. Where is ranked Hatton among the best welterweight?????? give me a number jajajaa i think that is not even ranked.
look at the size of torres and later hatton sizes. Other thing is that Torres is maybe the hardest hitting man in the divition and is a ko especialist. Look at his record right know and when the fight happen. everyones that doesnt have caution with torres hands can be ko easily. Hes not the best boxer but hit very hard. Hatton in 147 cant ko my grandmather.QUOTE]
So your Grandmother is a welterweight?
she's one tough old bird.
